Having a great season so far, having a blast.Weather has been absolutely incredible. We were at USF (University if San Francisco)yesterday. anyone who knows the city, its usually cold, it was 70 yesterday and beautiful.Could not have asked for a better day in the city.
We are having a lot of fun so far.

Awesome report!!!

I feel so much better now
Hey CLandDad, We got some Ohio weather here-17-27 degrees depending on city or country. At least the sun is out but it's going back down again tonight, may hit a record low. Good thing here is that it will be right back up to 70 in a day or two.

Can't wait for the games to begin-Feb 20th for all D1 schools. JC, D11 and D111 and NAIA all starting soon if not already.
Lucky guys.

We start with MSU and NIU in Starkville,MS and come home to Michigan and the Buckeyes. Moc1 JrII is scheduled to open against the Wolverines on the 25th and Moc1 JrI is set for opening game the 20th. It'll be a good test to see if they can compete this year.

I read where TB is moving to second base this year. Wish him well for me.

Good luck to all the Webster sons.

Jeff Taylor (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) had a pair of hits and stolen base.

Anybody who knows me, knows that I am highly supersticious when it comes to baseball. I checked in on JT's son's game today and lo and behold, it was televised via Internet video. I called up JT on cellphone and he waived to me on camera from lovely North Carolina. As I watched the first game, it went well for the team but not so well for JT Jr. I immediately sensed the problem that I was jinxing him by watching here in Cleveland. After realizing this, I immediately switched off the video feed and whalla!!! JT. Jr. started to hit. Sorry for all the problems I caused today JT Roll Eyes Big Grin

It was fun watching him "shedding butterflys." Krak should be proud and maybe a little "emotionally drained."

ILVBB - thanks for reporting - what a debut for Krak's son

Oh btw - what a debut for ILVBB's son - 5-9 with 5 rbi's
"Drained" is right - I'd been up watching the webcasts since 2am over here! Of course he goes in the very last inning of ten hours of watching (I did sleep a bit bewteen games).

The run was a bummer. He picked up a squibber down first baseline and beat the guy to the bag, but then fell over and rolled around a bunch which allowed the guy who'd been ON first to get to third (though a strong throw across the field almost got him). THEN, with that runner on third, he caught a cleat on the rubber and balked that run home.

I'm like, "WT@#%$?", then remembered the pitchers had just received their new spikes the day before (they'd been toe-dipped), so that was the first time they'd been on his feet. I hope he spends time breaking them in this week!

Speaking of GREAT performances, however, ILVBB's son rocked'em and socked'em in the fashion by which he has gained national attention. RBI's galore today.

Unfortunately the Tigers dropped their first two of the season, first to UT-Dallas, then to #12-ranked UT-Tyler (the game Tristan got the closing inning in). Anything good that happened individually is countered by the hope that the team will come on strong. Many predict they will be able to go deep into post-season, so here's to a new tomorrow for the boys from san Antonio.

Oklahoma City University opened against the Red River Conference 2008 Champs, Northwood College.

The blustery opening day contributed to the offensive fireworks although OCU added some rocket-power to clobber the ball for 10 home runs with Steve Vitale claiming two along with hitting for the cycle in his OCU debut.

OCU swept the series going 18-11 on day one followed by 11-9, 13-3 (5 innings) wins on the day two double-header.
Son's team (Dordt College, NAIA) started this past weekend. My wife and I were able to attend. They played four at the Metrodome in Minneapolis and lost all four (all four were close). They lost one in the last inning after leading most of the game and lost another in extra innings. Oh, well. Son got to play in two and had four plate appearances. He hit a pinch hit double and scored in his first official at bat in Game Two. All together, he was 1-3 with a SAC bunt.
Waiting VERY impatiently for Feb 20th to hurry up and get here. Right now I have to be content with phone calls about how the intrasquads are going. So far so good, likely the BigFella will be somewhere in the weekend rotation. I don't want to speculate where as that's one of the things I'm not qualified to comment on in public :-). But he's 100% healthy, mechanics are much improved, and he's filled out his frame with an additional 30 lbs. The good news is Fresno has a lot of home stands this year and (my fingers crossed) I'm hoping I'll know well ahead of time this year which game the BigFella is pitching in.

The bad news is I'm going to be putting a lot of miles on my car this spring.
waiting on the 20th here too, after 14 innings of intersquad pitching little ghoti gave up his second hit and first run yesterday. the next inning the wheels fell of haha!!! 3 errors and 8 runs later he got out of it. oh well it was bound to happen at some point. i think both squads combined for 12 or so errors.(ugly) at least the offense is starting to put it in play.
TAMPA, Fla. - The second ranked University of Tampa (3-0) baseball team took both games of Sunday's double header against Peach Belt Conference opponent Georgia College and State University (1-2). Tampa needed an extra frame to take the first game 6-5, then finished the day with a 3-1 victory.

In the first game, the Spartans found themselves down 5-0 in the bottom of fifth. Tampa then got on the board on a Ken Gregory double to left center scoring Jared Simon. Gregory would then score on a Jesus Barroso single. UT would score one more time in the inning to cut the GCSU lead to two.

The Spartans added runs in the seventh and eighth to even the score at five. Tampa righty Danny Keefe threw three scoreless innings while striking out four to hold the Bobcats at bay. Then in the tenth, senior transfer Nick Nordgren, who entered earlier as a pinch runner, hit a homer to left center to complete the Spartan comeback. Alex Koronis picked up the victory after tossing two scoreless innings for his first win of the season.

In game two, GCSU got out to an early lead in the third on the strength of a Derek Johns sac fly. UT would respond in the fourth when Steven Broschofsky scored on catcher Garrett Maines’ single. Following Maines, were a string of three more consecutive singles by Dagmar Pena, Tyler Cox, and Correy Figueroa that gave Tampa a 3-1 lead.

Right hander Tommy Meagher earned his first win of the season after throwing four innings while allowing one unearned run on one hit, and striking out five. Relieving Meagher was freshman Max Kreuter who picked up his first career save in his Spartan debut. Kreuter pitched three scoreless innings while surrendering only one hit and fanning three.

Nick Nordgren, who had the walk off winning home run in the first game, was named the Mississippi Valley Conference Player of the Year as a senior for Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School…Selected first-team all-state after batting a school-record .516 during his senior season…Also a dominant pitcher, he set a school record by going 8-0 as a senior. He has a non-speaking role in the movie “The Final Season,” which is about his hometown high school’s (Norway, Iowa) final year of baseball before consolidating...Chose UT for its baseball tradition and the weather…Son of Gordy and Linda Nordgren. Transfered to UT after playing for Indian Hills Community College and a year for Creighton.

I kind-of figured you were the culprit, CD. My report on JT, Jr for the first weekend is this:
He got back to school from the DH...jumped off the bus...and spent time in the outside cage hitting off the tee until "my swing felt right."
Bum...
Any chance you'll be there for the Ark series? If not, you can sign up for Razorzone and watch. All home games are covered. You pay $9.95 per month and you'll have to put up with listening to the opponent's play by play.

A good investment for the thrill of seeing that first series! Just don't forget to cancel after one month so you don't keep paying for games you won't watch.

I'd wish you luck, but I've got an interest in the other team! I guess I still wish you luck, just not too much! Wink
Boy, it's wonderful to read about all these games -- I sure can't wait until my son's season starts on the 20th! Meanwhile, I'm listening with baited breath to news about his scrimmages. First 3 scrimmages last week -- 0-fer. Frown Finally, he realized he needed to relax at the plate. Friday, he went 2-3 with a double, Saturday 2-3 with 2 doubles, and yesterday 2-4. In the past, his fielding has outshone his hitting, so this is good news!

Congrats to all the Websters' sons who have already seen some playing time. It's exciting to read about their success and yes, even their struggles. (I'm sure my son will have his share.) It's going to be a fun season rooting on not only my boy but all the HSBBW players out there. Best wishes to all!
yeah my son hit 3 today, jacks about 380 feet to dead center today for three outs. Line drives as well. He is doing well though in spite. In ten games he has had a hit in every game.coaches told him just keep hitting ball hard as he is after third line out.But hitting about .350 in first ten games.were 6-4.

baseball is a funny beast you can hit bloops and go 3/4 or you can hit line drive jacks , guys diving for balls and make outs. I wonder what the scouts like to see? Confused LOL
