Once DBAT qualified for the CMWS he was in a tough spot and felt he should honor his community and go to AC.

DBAT GM congrats to your orgainization on that big win in Farmington tonight.

Sorry to be so controversal again BUT I searched the Corsicana local papers and found nothing to your above mentioned quote. You have any proof to support the BS above? If you do ....I am sorry if not then poor decision to defuse the situation.

Bottom line IMO and I know I have others supporting me, ST made a HUGE mistake not supporting his organization and most importantly his TEAM. If we went to Farmington representing the South Plains Region Frown all of our AC guys would have been in Farmington supporting the TEAM.

The TEAM and orgainization should have come first especially since I read that ST committed already to TCU. Additionally, was told your #1 pitcher quit again?? Whats going on over there?

I hope the DBAT 17's can win the whole thing but odds are not good missing those quality players. I just wished they would have quit last weekend so we would still be playing.

Good luck the rest of the way. I just hope it does not come down to pitching...but it always does.

Does anyone smell sour grapes? Big Grin

Cheapseats ...its really not sour grapes its winning the World Series and bring it home to Dallas and showing everyone why Texas baseball is the best. Thats all it is.

If any other organization would have done it I would have said the same.

If DBAT would have lost tonight after that HUGE lead then I am sure PD would have been deleting my replies because I would have been really PO about the situation.
Ok folks, would you please let the ST and AC thing go. Everything is ok with us and we fully support his decision and that is all that matters. I can see this whole thread turing into something it is not. And Train to clear up another point and put it to sleep as well the other pitcher whom you referred to is at AC as well. Please don't start any BS here because there is nothing to uncover to which it seems a lot of fishing is going on. You ask me the other night why I take things so personal, this is why when you make condesending statements like, "whats going on over there?" I'll tell you whats going on, the players and coaches are in Farmington having the time of their life. One thing about our players is they are going to play hard and with class regardless of who is on the field. Let it go there is no scoup here. Are you supporting us or are you really attempting to keep the pot stirred in hopes of others joining in? I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and hope not. So please this topic.

why cant this all just be dropped..

it makes no sense to go on about it. It's not going to change the fact that ST got selected to a very prestigious event such as the AC team. He deserves to be there and whether or not hes missing the CMWS is not important because his team and coaches accept his decision and are behind him 100%

I hope they win regardless they are a great team with alot of class
I still don't understand why people get all worked up if a kid decides to play in one of these events (AC, AFLAC, etc.). These don't come easy, and very very few get this opportunity.

Most ALL of these kids having been playing in some form of a World Series since they were 10 years old. Also, who is to say your going to get there unless you have a SURETHING with the host team.

The decision is the players and their families. Whatever they decide is what they feel is best. They have to live with the decisions they make, not us.

Select ball is just that, you select players to play and in the post season you select players to pick up. It still takes 9 to play the game. So, let's move on.
D-BATS win thriller

By Louie St. George III The Daily Times

FARMINGTON — What started as a pitcher's duel quickly turned into a shootout Friday night at Ricketts Park, where the Dallas D-BATS survived an explosive South Troy rally to win a thrilling World Series opener 10-9.
Clayton Farhat greeted Dodgers relief pitcher Mike Ness with an RBI single to right field in the top of the seventh inning as the D-BATS overcame a one-run deficit in the final frame.
Nick Fleece jumpstarted the decisive seventh with a stand-up double to the wall in center field and tied the game on a Boomer Collins run-scoring single to left before Farhat produced the game-winner with his third hit of the ballgame.
"I went up there and the first pitch I saw, I was a little late on, but I was nice and relaxed and just drove the ball to right," said the designated hitter, who recorded three RBIs and scored a run out of the eight spot in the Dallas lineup.
Farhat's late-game heroics helped the D-BATS overcome a nearly-disastrous fifth inning.
Trailing 8-1, the Dodgers — aided by two Dallas errors — erupted for eight runs to take a one-run lead heading into the sixth. Ben Henderson capped the improbable South Troy rally with a clutch three-run homer. Henderson, who hits from the left side, cleared the wall with ease in center field, and after rounding the bases, the big first baseman was mobbed at home plate by his Dodgers teammates.
South Troy's comeback was made easier when Dallas right-hander Brandon Workman was lifted from the game after four sparkling innings of work. The flame-throwing Workman allowed just two hits and an unearned run, while relying heavily on an overpowering fastball that consistently reached the mid 90s.
"Brandon is one of my favorite pitchers on the team because in the dugout he's one of the goofiest kids, but when he's out on the mound, it's all business," said Farhat.
Workman said he wasn't surprised to be removed from the game, especially with a pitching staff that posted a microscopic 1.34 ERA during the season. After Dallas scored seven times in the top of the fourth for an 8-1 lead, the University of Texas signee got three quick outs in the bottom of the inning.
"I like going up there and pitching with that kind of lead," Workman said. "I can go up and challenge hitters and if I make a mistake, it's not a big deal."
Dallas took an early lead in the top of the first on Fleece's first double of the night, a drive to the gap in right-center field that scored Josh Wilson, who made perhaps the play of the game a half inning later.
The right fielder cut down Kyle Meyer at the plate in the bottom of the first to keep the Dodgers off the board. After catching a flyball down the line, Wilson threw a one-hop strike to catcher Lance Marvel, who corralled the ball and applied a quick tag for an inning-ending double play.
It was one the few bright spots for a Dallas defense that committed five errors, prompting South Troy manager George Rogers to exclaim, "They tried to give it away."
Rogers then admitted his team wasn't much better.
"We missed plays that we've made all summer and you can't do that against this level of competition."
Dallas coach Kermit Dow said prior to the Series that his team had to play strong defense and supplement that defense by "scratching" out a few runs to be competitive.
Dow's team did more than scratch out a few runs in the fourth. The D-BATS opened the inning by loading the bases on a pair of walks and a hit batsman. Consecutive basehits from Farhat and Marvel scored four. Chris Slater drove in the fifth run of the inning when he laced a triple off the wall in right and Wilson and Brandon Williamson added RBI singles before the inning was through.
That outburst provided the necessary cushion for the predominantly 17-year-old D-BATS. According to Workman, who said, "I've never pitched in front of that many people," the opener was a chance for his team to get past any butterflies that come with playing in the World Series.
"There were some jitters," the pitcher said. "We'll work (the defensive miscues) out at practice Sunday."
Dallas plays Monday against the winner of Friday's late game, either the host Rattlers or the Phoenix Firebirds. South Troy gets a bye in the first round of the loser's bracket and plays Tuesday.
Rogers is confident the Dodgers can shrug off Friday's loss.
"We'll rebound and come back and win a couple games in this tournament. We'll get some practice in and battle against whoever we play. I'm totally confident we can bounce back."

Nawp, outsider, not indescriminately, just train, who, based on my observation, requires regular deletion, not indescriminate.

Not the case here.

With the first round of games complete, it's apparent that offense rules in Farmington. On average, more than 15 runs scored per game, and that's with most teams throwing their aces.
Lots more errors than expected too. Can't help but wonder how these games would play out if they used real bats. Most of these boys are finding for the first time just how far the ball flies in the thin air, and with the wind blowing out.
Two nice matchups tomorrow with DBAT and Arizona facing off. Two great offensive clubs, but I think the pitching advantage lies with DBAT. The late game between Midland and Florida just might take all night to settle.
You guys should not get all worked up by some moron pretending to be a Tiger/Coppell parent that talks back and forth with himself via his aliases with the sole intention of stirring people up. His posts are the illogical rants of an unstable individual. If you think about it, it's really pretty pathetic and the poor soul is likely in need of professional help.
crazy

Just ignore him and remember to never argue with an idiot - he'll just drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

wouldn't be any different if those pitchers got hurt before Farmington... and how do you know the situation of all other teams that made it Farmington? Couldn't they have guys misisng for one reason or another?? If you say yes, then the field is equal again...

Just let it go... you are here, DBAT is there... man, you sound more and more like "The Wolf" everyday.... Wink

WOW...DBAT GM your true colors come out. Folks this is exactly the "hotdog" that I spoke about in prior posts. FYI...I AM NOT THE WOLF and YES I AM A TIGER/COPPELL PARENT and believe we have the best organization. I am not stirring people up just speaking true feelings. You can't handle the truth!

When you get caught lying about ST you got embarassed just like I caught you red handed. YOUR CLASSLESS. Eek

I enjoy posting but NEVER sugar coating a player, team, etc. I say it like it is....stop babying players, orgainizations, coaches, etc. If something is bad say its bad...speak the truth.

TRAIN may be taking a vacation! Smile

Just wanted to check in real quick.

Pat is up in the room making out the line-up while I fixed my HSbaseball withdraws. Big Grin

I will give full details when I get back but I will some up this week so far by saying this............................

Besides being in uniform for the 1999 playoffs in New York vs. the Yankees, the Connie Mack World Series has been one of the most impressive venues I have attended.

Everything about this is what baseball was meant for. It's so pure. Kids, coaches, families, from all over having the time of their life.

I have taken plenty of pictures which I will post when I get back to my own PC.

Brett Anderson pitched for the Midland Redskins in the first game. Had a great conversation with him, seems like a great kid. FYI, he was a sandwhich pick in this years draft. Sure neat to see a kid pitching just because. Wink

The HR derby was as cool as it gets. They even had Century 21 out there with the bonus gold ball on the last out. Baker put on a show.

SWAC, get your butt out here. Steinbrother should never miss this event. Wink
