Bear,

Again, not to pick on you personally but another one of your posts on this thread needs to be addressed. You continue to try and diminish the strength of baseball in the Catholic League. You identify two members (Trepfan and jh26) as 'Rookies' and then go on to 'teach' them about which particular public school, in a given year, would be able to compete with that years Catholic League champion. (For example, in 2003, you say Severna Park would have beaten DeMatha.)

First of all, your whole premise of cherry picking one public school team from Maryland or Northern Virginia that could possibly beat the Catholic League champion is ridiculous. I mean shouldn't we expect that with HUNDREDS of public schools in Maryland and Northern Virginia there would be 1 or 2 each year that could compete with the best of the Catholic League. The real issue is if you can name another league in the area which has as strong a group of teams from top to bottom year in and year out as the Catholic League in Washington? Don't give me this "coulda/woulda" nonsense about a particular years best public school team being able to beat the Catholic League's best, give me a league who has the top to bottom strength we see year in and year out from one of the nation's most competitive athletic conferences.

Secondly, give me another league in Maryland or Virginia that has produced as many Division 1 baseball players over the last 8 years as the Catholic League in Washington? I will be eagerly awaiting your response.

Cheers,
Stubble (aka 'Another Rookie')

Ever think about trying to shave everyday?

a. In God we Trust, all others verified:

STJ were Champions of their first WCAC Tourney
in 1999. A 2nd Championship in 2005.

(I remain steadfast in this, yet I will acknowledge the first of your many spins. In other
words, all believe the end of the year tournament, is the Champ........ ..anything other is like kissing your sister, sort of speak.)

b. Now that the EoY rankings are out, what is your
point?

c. Being shut-down, suspensions and injuries are a
part of the game. What is your point?

d. Trepfan is a friend. Terpfan is too. What is your point?

e. Your metric on D1 players? If that matters to you. What does it really mean? What I look for is the road that it took to get there, and of course the path taken when there.

f. Most HS leagues, with some exceptions, have a top tier, a middle tier, and a third tier. The use case presenting the creme de la creme of the public schools vs the private schools holds. The league debate may leak yet also holds.

g. Your words "You continue to try and diminish the strength of baseball in the Catholic League." are another of these enduring spins. Not my words.

May this help your reading, active listening skills, merry-go-round, and really not sure why you are looking to battle.......

Suggest shave first, yet I may not be holding baited breath for your response.

I am so Dizzy

Bear,

Your response to my post is very WEAK. Let's go through it point by point:

A) St. John's has won the Catholic League baseball title 16 times. For you to suggest that they first won a title is 1999 is laughable. SJC has been around since 1851! They won their first title in 1953 and most recent in 2005. I am not counting the many first place regular season finishes SJC has had over the last 15 years during which time the league champion has been determined by the end of season tournament. You supposedly were watching DC baseball during the 50's, 60's and 70's yet you somehow missed all the championship baseball teams produced by SJC, better dust off the old scrapbook and take notes!

B) My point regarding the national rankings is easy to discern for anyone who can read. Please re-read my remarks and respond in kind. You challenge SJC's national ranking and I give a bevy of facts to support the ranking. How hard is it to see my point? Why don't you try to refute what I am saying instead of asking a dumb question???

C) Again, read my post and respond.

D) If you read my post I never mention Terpfan. I only mention jh26 and trepfan b/c of your condescending remarks to them.

E) Using D1 players is an incredibly useful metric in judging the relative strength of a league. You seem to think that the Catholic League is the competitive equivalent of any public school league. That is a complete and total joke. Look at the number of D1 baseball players the Catholic League puts out every year and it dwarfs all other public school conferences in the area. I would guess that SJC in 2008 has as many D1 signs in baseball as all of the public high schools in Montgomery County combined! Do you think that it is useful in judging the strength of major college football conferences by the number of NFL players produced? Most experts do, so why would using the number of D1 baseball players produced by a given league not be a terrific metric in judging the strength of the league???

F) This point is RIDICULOUS! You look around the entire metropolitan area for one public school that can compete with the Catholic League champion. Again, answer my question if you can, name one league in the area which has as strong a group of teams top to bottom as the Catholic League in Washington DC? Your silence on this question is deafening!!!

G) Your condescension and sarcasm coupled with a incredible urge in all posts to try and find a problem or weakness with the Catholic League is why I use the words "continue to try and diminish the strength of baseball in the Catholic League." Show me one post where you applaud and acknowledge how good Catholic League baseball is and I will stand corrected.

Finally, when responding to this post please use a form of English most Americans can understand. The BEAR-speak which so often accompanies your posts is a mish-mash of spelling and grammatical errors which leaves many readers grasping at straws to decipher your meaning.

Sincerely,
Stubble
ABC Building Blocks

a. Obviously you have deemed it most important to win the league regular season.

It's amazing how every Apple Pie, Chevrolet, Parish, Archdiocese & church goer baseball player strives to be WCAC Tournament Champion. In other words, winning the league is the appetizer, winning the Championship is the meal. STJ has won two.
(and OBTW many of the emails I am receiving from those laughing have said: "My scrapbook is probably older than when you were born")

b. Challenge STJ rankings? Not my view point.
(What are the EoY rankings, should that be important to you as it is.)

c. QED

d. Why do you care about exchange between Trep & me?

e. May you suggest, and off-line in a separate email exchange, the top WCAC baseball players who you think are successful and get to play college baseball and are equally successful upon completing their collegiate playing career?

f. Assuming that you may have zero clue about Use Cases, let's agree that you do not agree with the view point (which can be statistically proven)

g. Let's pick one out of 1,346 vs five? Smile
Silverstein Don't need to stand up.

Finally, you hit the nail on the head.
Bear'ese has many readers! Smile

Can't wait holding my breadth for your email!

cheers jack

Bear,

What are you putting in your porridge? Your answers (and I use the word 'answers' very loosely) are written in a language (self proclaimed Bear'ese) that makes pig latin seem like Shakespeare! Let me respond in a language foreign to you, English:

A) Please read my post carefully as I make a point of saying that I am not counting SJC's numerous regular season 1st place finishes during the last 15 years among the 16 championships that St. John's has accumulated in baseball. The Catholic League has used the tournament format to crown the league champion since 1993 but previous to 1993 an end of season tournament was only used sporadically to crown the champion. In most years, the league champion was whomever finished in first place during the regular season.

B) You DID challenge SJC's rankings and still have no answer for my response. Quick question, name another HS program in this area that has played and beaten as many nationally ranked teams from the hotbeds of high school baseball, (SoCal and Florida) as St. John's.

C) "QED" speak English ONE TIME Bear! No acronyms!

D) I don't care who you are speaking with, my only concern is to respond to anyone who makes ridiculous assertions about the WCAC or SJC. You do both with astonishing regularity.

E) I don't have any idea why you would ask this. Your response has nothing to do with my question which is (for the third time) "Name a league that puts out as many D1 players in baseball as the WCAC." Easy question for most people, why not give it a shot?

F) If your view point can be statistically proven then go for it! Beat me to death with numbers, it couldn't be as painful as trying to understand your writing! This is another easy question for the Bear. "Name a league in this area which has as strong a group of teams from top to bottom as the WCAC?"

G) Again, show me one positive post- you have alot to choose from Mr. 1346!

Finally, don't hold your breath. I think that may be the source of your grammatical issues!

Respectfully,
Stubble
