LeftyQsdad, thanks. I'm a Forney dad in Round Rock so I don't get the packets, typically. But, usually one of the schools will have the tournament schedule posted and I can get it that way. Long distance rooting for your team can be difficult, at best. Again, thanks.
JackRabbitDad,
I too live out of town and don't get to watch many of the games but have continued to follow them anyway. I have a friend that fills me in on the games and I'll try and pass this on to you when able to.
Forney lost both games on Saturday but could have won both if not for an inning in both games. In the E. Trinity game Forney looked good from the start but faded somewhat in the last inning. Pitching looked pretty good until the last inning. Forney hit the ball pretty good too. A home run in the top of the last inning put Forney up by one but the pitching gave up the lead in the end.
The Birdville game was similar to the first except that Birdville scored most of their runs at the beginning of the game due to fielding errors and pitching lapses. After the first inning Forney seemed to settle down and played a pretty good game. Not sure of the score from either game. Hope this helps.

Forney opened the season with a NO-NO. Forney senior LHP Kyle Jeffrey threw a complete game no hitter in a 6-0 win over Mansfiled Timberview.Forney was led at the plate by senior Josh Eatherly who had 3 RBIs. In the 6th inning Jeffey was helped by spectacular defensive plays by Corey Blackmon and Trevor Mceuen. In the 7th another defensive gem by Eatherly
Forney lost to Sulphur Springs 6-5 blowing a 5-1 lead late and Nac 6-1 today. Coach Farrow is still making changes to get a look at all his players and combinations.Highlights have been Mceuen defensively at 2nd and 3rd and Eatherly in center field. With Eatherly in center Forney has struggled turning the routine double play from shortstop and it continues to cost outs and runs. Utilization of younger players in various positions has not worked except for Reese at first. Forney appears solid with the starting nine in place. Blackmon and Jeffery look pretty good on the hill. It is still early
Who was pitching when Forney blew the lead? I saw on another post where Blackmon was pitching the Sulphur Springs game. Who all pitched? Was it the pitching that fell apart or did the defense begin to fail?
Hope they can move on and put it together for a good year.

Blackmon started,Eatherly was playing CF and came in to pitch with 2 on base after a fly ball was misplayed in left field. A walk and a routine ground ball to short instead of a dp there was an error scoring 2. A couple of hits later it was 6-5. Coach will make an adjustment or two and all will be good.
Thanks for the update, hoping all will go well with the team. Keep us posted.
i'm calling forney finishing first in district, and making a deep run in playoffs. Forney is ALWAYS one of the premier defensive teams in the area is what i hear, and is the blackmon kid a senior this year?
Orville, Blackmon is a junior. Forney has a very good team and will come in second in the district behind Poteet. I am "very" familiar with both teams star players Poteet is just to strong. Don't believe what Go Pirates is feeding you its just a game he's playing! Poteet has one of the best teams in the area this year!quote:Originally posted by orvilleredenbacher93:

Orville, This is from a Rockwall Heath fan one of the top ranked teams in the state.

Okay, Beast and Go Pirates. I am sure that someone, somewhere is buying your poor, poor, pitiful Poteet act but after you guys run those 3 pitchers out there and win 30 games this year you guys will have to come clean. Poteet is one team on a short list in our region that has a very legitimate shot at playing in Dell Diamond this June. Yes, Heath has some pitching also but we also have 2 sophomores that we are counting on, so who knows? I think Poteet runs roughshod though their district and makes a long playoff run.

Beast you are playing the same game as Go Pirate. I'm not quite sure why your down playing the talent on your team, maybe you just don't want to get your hopes up! But I know you do not truley believe Forney and Red Oak are better than Poteet. For us guys that are familiar with the players on all the teams it's not that difficult to predict! But you are doing a convincing job. Just keep playing the game it will all come out in the end!quote:Originally posted by The Beast:

I guess we will find out next tuesday when Poteet goes to Forney. I think Poteet is a lot stronger than anyone is saying too. Not sure how it will play out but as always it will not be dull when these two meet.

If I'm reading this correctly Beast there are two teams on that list that are in 15-4A with us. That makes us third in district I believe.
After seeing Red Oak in Waco this past weekend, I wouldn't put them in the top 10 in the area. I hate to say it being a Red Oak fan, but unless they start hitting, then this will be a long year for them!
What tournaments are Forney and Red Oak playing in this week?
Red Oak's in Burleson.
Forney's in Waxahchie this weekend.
I kneel and bow down to the king of Sandbaggers... Go Pirates... lol...
I'm not playing golf with him and his 40 handicap either...
Good Luck to all the teams in that district. Sounds like its going to be a dogfight for the top spots...

Does anyone know Forney's schedule for this weekend in Waxahachie and the probable starting pitchers for the games? I'm gonna try and make a trip to the metroplex and watch them play.
WAX. VS FORNEY, THURSDAY 11AM
FORNEY VS WT WHITE, FRIDAY 1PM
CEDAR HILL VS FORNEY, FRIDAY 3PM
BIRDVILLE VS FORNEY, SATURDAY 11AM
Look for Jeffrey and Blackmon to pitch the first two games since Poteet is coming up on Tuesday

My guess would be that whoever pitches Thursday is "earmarked" for the Tuesday start against Poteet. And, with only the tournament coming up at the end of that week, I would also guess that those two might both pitch if needed in that game. Any other thoughts out there?
The word coming out of the Poteet practice today is that either Nowell or Taylor will start Tuesday at Forney. Both threw complete games giving up 1 ER and making the all-tournament team last weekend. They have, by far, been our most consistent pitchers so far. They will probably throw a couple of innings each Friday and which ever has the best outing will start Tuesday. I will be surprised if we don't see Blackmon Tuesday. Good luck this weekend.
I think Jeffrey will get the start against Poteet on Tuesday and probably Blunt will go for Poteet
I'll bet Blackmon would like to start today against Waxahachie and get some revenge for the playoff loss last year.
I think that's our plan tomorrow against Texarkana. Probably will start Griffin and hope for a little revenge. Even though winning a tournament game doesn't even compare to winning in the playoffs.
Go Pirates that's true. It's not comparable except it could be some positive reinforcement for a young pitcher with district play just around the corner. Could help mentally down the road, however.
Go Pirates, you have a PM coming.
Back at ya JackRabbitDad
Forney beat Waxahachie 6-0, but I don't have any details, yet.
The only updated details I have is that Blackmon pitched 5 innings, gave up no runs and 4 hits. Any one else have any more to add?
I heard the same about Blackmon's outing. Eatherly came in at the start of the 6th inning put on a couple of batters but didn't allow any runs. Hits were sporadic...two or three extra base hits including 2-run home run by Taylor Blakely. Forney won 6-0. All in all sounds like a good outing for the Rabbits.
The report I got was Blackmon was not near his best but got it done. Forney did not take advantage of several opportunities. Waxahachies pitcher was a lefty with mid 70s fastball and mostly off speed slooow stuff. Wax. was not much and Forney did just ok not up to their potential
Which game will Jeffries throw? WT White at 1:00 or Cedar Hill at 3:00. He could throw either and still be ready on Tuesday for Poteet. Who are the other starters Forney has for the other games? I believe that Hay is one, but I'm not familiar with any others.
I am not sure which game Jeffey will pitch but he will be on a pitch as was Blackmon. Both will be available for Poteet. Hay, White, Reese and maybe Eatherly will pitch. Eatherly only threw to 5 batters yesterday. There are a couple of others that can be used too. Blakely, Ponder and McEuen can provide some innings too
Any Forney updates for today? I've not heard a thing, yet.
Forney won both games today. 1-0 vs W T White and
5-3 vs Cedar Hill. Jeffrey won game one and Hay game two. Forney plays just good enough to win nothing very impressive. The Rabbits are going to have to learn to put teams away or it will cost them some games. Birdville tomorrow at 11:00

One more tune up both teams tomorrow and lets get ready to rumble Tuesday. Looks like it will be a good one. Good luck tomorrow and we will see yall Tuesday.
So far, not so bad for Forney. According to the stats on Dallas Morning News, Forney pitching gave up 3 hits each game and only gave up three runs, those being in the 3rd game. Only 3 errors in 3 games and that is good for Forney, based on some prior years. How did Jeffrey and Hay look? Couldn't have been too bad based on the outcomes. Think they're ready for Poteet? They surely better be. I know that Poteet would really love to take Forney down hard (and vice versa).
Both pitchers looked pretty good. a little role reversal with Blackmon struggling slightly with control and Jeffrey was more consistent. Forney was flat at the plate against W.T. White with an attitude that this is DISD and not much of a challenge. The WTW pitcher was pretty good as time went on. Forney looked more up against Cedar Hill but was still not as aggressive as usual. Every game vs Poteet is a grudge match even with the fans and Poteet fans show their class with out the cl
