Fastball,

It might be time to stop wearing that Old Brown Shoe.

You and me should get together, because who knows.....it will happen that someday, someway,......We will be wearing rings on every finger and........I might be comforting you.

In CPL Tennis News it was Payton College Prep Soph, Evan King defeating Benet Senior, Connor Roth; 6-1, 6-3 to win the State Tennis Title yesterday. Evan King is the best player in City and the best player in the State.

King became the first CPL player in 13 years to win the Boys IHSA Tennis Title and only the third since 1955.

The North Shore has been dominating this sport for years. Congrats to CPS Walter Payton Magnet High School and Evan King (Class of 2009) for bringing the State Title back to the City.

Pictures and story on Page 1 and Page 9 in Chicago Tribune Sports Section. Find the story on Page 71A in Chicago Sun Times.

Mark,

What do you mean, "King became the first player in 13 years to win the Boys IHSA Tennis Title and only the third since 1955". That doesn't make any sense at all since I think that they have a champion every year.

Also, did Payton College Prep win the team title or was it only the one kid who won the championship for that team?

Great game Vikings!

Great game by Tom Simek!!! Pitched a complete game 4 hitter. Helped out with the bat to by getting the first rbi of the game...Big time game for Tom, definately worth the two hour drive for us to attend.
Couldn't miss that Bergen Beach shirt...wondered who you were there to see!

CoachB,
That's the second time the IHSA site misled us. I emailed a HSBBW poster from a nearby school congratulating him on their upset tournament win as posted on the site, only to have him tell me the game was rained out and they hadn't thrown a pitch yet. angry

In this situation whomever called in the scores did so incorrectly. This is done via computer links and so, I'm sure the IHSA doesn't know the site is wrong.

Itsrosy, yes, we're headed out soon. She has a big tournament this weekend way on the other side of St. Louis. Forecast - RAIN!

Actually I wasn't the one wearing a Bergen shirt, that was the proud grandpa of Tom Simek (who plays for Bergen) that was displaying the green & gold.....
Questions regarding rainouts and making up games. If it would continue to rain for the next couple of days and games could not be played Friday or Saturday, does the IHSA allow games to be played on Sunday in this case?

Also, my son was told by his coach that if all of the games are not in by Monday, the highest seeded team goes to the supersectional. Can anyone verify this? Thanks!!

It also says Sundays are excluded in opening rounds, not sure if that applies. Here's the linkIHSA Manual
