I kinda missed this place, hehe. So i came back to see what's going on.

I actually left because i was going through a bit of a difficult. I actually decided to hang up the cleats for this summer and decided to just drop my hope and dream of playing professionally. There was just no way in hell for me to even get drafted or signed, my luck just isn't like that. Heck i spent the last 2 or 3 years trying to bulk up and eat eat eat and I haven't gained an ounce past 140 pounds. Heck even after I stopped lifting eating altogether i haven't been able to drop below 135. Figure that out.

But anyway i just came back because I'm still hoping one day to be a coach/scout or something like that and i think i would like to actually help someone get to the pros. I spent the whole last bit researching and reading books on drills and skills and fitness laddee dah and I really don't want that to go to waste.
I was gonna see if i could coach this summer but i really need the time off from being on the diamond.
Yeah so i stumbled into here just a few minutes hehe to see what's up. I might post again in the coaches sections just to give a helping hand to players who need tips and such.

Another reason why i came here is i've been reading up on the draft prospects fro this upcoming June 7. And I'm curious as to who's kids, or even what players from here look promising for the draft.

It's good to be back.

3000 Welcome back...

As far as hanging them up...only you can truly know when and where...Kudo's for recognizing and being willing to take the next step in life. And double kudo's for diving right in with the same passion I am sure you exhibited as a player.

As far as why...PG and I have this running discussion about reaching genetic potential, while I know very little about your story, AND I am sure that you will get lots of suggestions now about options and suggestions for putting the cleats back on....I figure there comes a time when you have simply done everything you can (within reason), and taken your game to it's logical conclusion. (OK maybe you didn't reach absolute gentic potential, but you did reach practical potential).

As far as coaching goes...Lots of us will tell you that there is truly great reward in helping others reach their potential (whatever that might be.)

As a player you can change perceptions, entertain, provide an example. BUT as a coach you can simply change lives, and through them the world.

As a coach...You will see in a way that you never could as a player just how much influence you can have in young men's lives both on and off the field. There is simply not a better and more rewarding, and more important place to spend the rest of your life.

When old coaches die, people care deeply and for good reason.

Good Luck, best wishes, and godspeed...

Mr3000,

Welcome Back! We all reach a point in our lives where we need to recognize, reflect and make choices about the paths in life we choose to take and to leave behind. What I CAN tell you is....the world can ALWAYS use more coaches who know the game, and who love the game! You sound like you've got both criteria covered well!
Yeah thankers.
I guess i have both criteria covered. I think i'd like to be a coach because the leagues around here don't actually have coaches, they just have parents who show up to make lineups because no one else is willing to do that. There's no coaching or teaching whatsoever, and whatever teaching there is, is usually flat out wrong. That's why i'd like to step in, so that some promising kid doesn't have his chances ruined, like I did.
Yeah, my genetics wont allow me to gain weight, nearly everyone in my family is skinny and cant gain/lose weight. That really sucked for me because i was alwasy able to hit the ball just as hard as the stronger guys on my teams. Had i actually been their size, i'd be mashing the ball. It's frustrating for me because i know exactly why i haven't been drafted or anything, and I know I was so close.

Thing for me is, i lacked a slower metabolism, but i was very atheltic and 'springy' and very quick first step etc etc.

So close I was. Oh well, now i know what not to teach players if I coach.
I haveto be honest now. The main reason why I'm not playing this season is because of stress levels and personal issues. I just really need a season off so that I can get things off my head and gain some self-confidence and esteem. I've realized that the main reason why i haven't been signed or drafted yet was because of that, cause i had too many things on my head while i was on the field. I've been to a few trouyt camps now, and i've noticed and even been told that i have some of the tools to get signed. It's just that i never had a tryout where everything came together. One tryout i run a good 60 yard and hit everything and i mean everything, but my fielding footwork is horrendous and my throws are weak and innacurate. Then the next tryout it's the otherway around. Aarg.
But i have been out of work and practice and playing for half a year now, and already the stress levels and plummeted and gone way way down. So i might actually play again next year and tryout for a local semi-pro team. I still wonder if next year when i'm 22/23 if i could have a great season/tryout infront of scouts and get signed. So i haven't really lost all hope yet.
