If you watched ESPN's Sportcenter on Sunday night, you saw this story about my son's football team.

It's about a guy who played running back for my son's high school team back in the late 70's, and was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease a couple years later, while in college. He was given three years to live.

Twenty years later, he is still struggling to survive. A few years ago, he became active with our high school football team. He came to practices, spoke to the players, gave inspirational messages. Last season, he was given an official spot on the coaching staff.

He has been an inspiration to the whole team. It is hard to express the impact that this man has had on the lives of these kids. To see a man struggle the way he does, yet maintain meaning in his life by teaching others what it means to persever - it has been extraordinary to watch.

The ESPN segment was extremely well done. It runs for more than ten minutes, and there happens to be a few shots of my son in the mix!

If you didn't see it, it will be replayed in several upcoming Sportscenter broadcasts. It is worth watching for.
