Hasn't been a good week, hasn't been a good day. But today will soon be yesterday and tomorrow there's another game.

Not going to go into details at this time, but when your son calls you after a game, whether good or bad, just listen. Tell him you love him and be grateful that next game he will get another at bat, or another trip to the mound.

I posted this last weeked and I think because of some pm's I got that some thought it was because DK had a bad game.

Early last week, it was reported that CU's ss, Stan Widman, would miss a few games due to neck injury, but tests revealed a condition that might end his career. Today I read that Stan will be out for the rest of the season due to a congenital condition that may require neck surgery, however looks good that they think it is not career ending.

Widman, a former Aflac player and top ranked HS prospect out of Hurst Texas, turned down offers from Texas schools to attend CU. Stan started 139 games as ss and was hitting .409 with one home run before pain sidelined him this year.
I first met Stan and family on our recruiting trip. He is one of the most polite and gracious players that I have ever met. DK says he has never seen anyone work harder at his game, sometimes waking at 3-4am to go hit in the batting cage. I really thought that this was Stan's year, hitting early and errorless at his position.

So with that, I think it is important to keep some things in perspective as I mentioned in another thread. It's not if the games are good or bad ones, it's that they get to get up everyday and play them, enjoy everyone one as if it were the last, because sometimes you just don't know when the ride will end.

I have to echo this.

TPM, I'm sorry to learn about this player, and I'm glad to know the injury is not career ending.
