I don't know if it is any worse or not. Maybe the rise of 'select' baseball has given these parents the ability to concentrate more. Certainly the vast majority of parents in select ball are fine parents that only desire the best for their kid but the ability to play for a supposed 'superior' team has an attraction for the overbearing parent that many of us hate.

Unfortunately all it takes is one of those parents to taint a whole team.
I do not think it stumps coaches. They see it and try to deal with it as best they can. I guess it is part of the job description. I read on this site how coaches have a parents meeting before the season to explain what is expected. Did I do that years ago? No To be honest there was no reason. If somehow I lost my mind and took a coaching job at a high school today I am sure i would be told to have one. that is just the way it is. I will be honest in the close to 30 years i coached I had little or no problem. There was the occassional boy who did not make the team or something where the parent would call the AD voicing his displeasure. I was talking to a coach recently and he talked about how he spends more time than he would like answering e mails about this or that. No thanks.
