According to the new website, it looks like they don't start until May 1st...They generally have a lot of late adds...for example, when my kid went last year, they had a son of the PawSox coaching staff play as he was here in the area at the time, yet went to HS in California. They take about 120 kids and I noticed some no-shows, and late additions at the last minute on all four teams.

Actually the LR at $150 and the free Summer Rivalry Classic and Area Code Tryouts are light years ahead of ALL paid showcases including Top96, Perfect Game, Bobby Valentine, Headfirst, etc etc because someone else has done most of the weeding out forthe scouts and coaches. We just had a coach tell us that they were sending a ooach to watch because of the calibre of competition he will be up against.

The challenge with these is to get a Major League scout to notice you and get an invite. Ways to do that include attending a clinic they may be running, attending an MLSB or pro team tryout, or just getting in touch with one and asking if he can watch your son and evaluate his talent.

Then ask for a recommendation or ask the event organizer to speak to scout so and so to evaluate your request for an invite.

Of course if you have earned an All State type nod that should get you in as well.

this weekends tournament was very well run and for the most part theb talent level was actually pretty good. the pitchers in particular were really good. catchers were average to maybe a little above average, think I saw maybe 5 runners thrown out. fielders were solid, tough to stand out when you are only playing every third inning. overall I would say that I would definitely reccomend itif you can get in. one thing I was happy to see was a large contingent of colleges there. a lot of tournaments boast about attendance, this one delivered.

Now THATS a blast from the past, haha.  Sorry ! No longer familiar with their workings. I never knew them to have two separate events.

Some advice from someone who has watched their son do well in school and on the diamond, limit your high school baseball showcase expenditures SIGNIFICANTLY. If you have a stud, the top schools will find him more effectively through your high school or travel team coach. A day at a showcase is hit or miss and doesn't give the player much opportunity to show their skills.

Better to select schools on the basis of where he would do well if baseball disappeared, then find out where those coaches will be and contact them in advance. The school's camp is a good idea but better would be having a track record of good play in HS and Travel to refer the coach to.

If that fails, know that there are great D3 programs where players can excel on and off the field and where walking on is likely if they have a good fall session At a position of need, which can normally be identified in a conversation with the coach at the time you are applying to schools.
