Hello,
I really love Lion Baseball, and I'm glad to be here "forumming" with ya'll. I see that some of the blood is stirred here, that's always a good thing, so don't be ashamed of it! I went to the game tonight, and let me just say that both teams were much more classy than I had anticipated...due to the forum up to this point. What was especially pleasing was the subdued nature of the Poteet fans...who said they were rowdy and obnoxious?!? I tip my hat to Mesquite and McKinney for making the game a fun time.
Congratulations Lions on a great game 1. You guys were able to capitalize on 6 errors by our Pirates defense and that's part of what this great game is about. Capitalizing on your opponents mistakes! Hopefully tonights game will be a little more respectable. I look forward to another great match-up tonight.
Unfortunatley I had to miss the game last night. What the heck happened with all the Es on Poteet. Without naming names what positions did not have thier "A" game last night. Must have been something in the air last night. I was forced to listen to the North Mesquite - Plano West game to see if I could get Poteet updates. Plano West had 9 errors (4 in one inning) but still managed to win 4-2. I also just read Highland Park had 4 errors in one inning in thier 6-3 loss against Nacadoches.
Tom Mitzner pitched a beautiful game. He challenged the hitters and great command. I don't think the was expected to start, but he came in did a great job.
P1ticket - Maybe the scorekeeper was generous but the box score shows Plano West with 6 errors rather than 9 that you mentioned. Still too many but it was nice they pulled out a win even with the errors.

Teddy Nowell Jr. did not look like he was on his "Ace" game either last night. It looks like McKinney sure has a huge advantage the rest of the way in this one....its in the books! Next round!

I guess jumping out to a 6-0 lead will do that to the losing teams fans.
But tonight may be a different story. Poteet back at home

I thought Westmoreland pitched last night for Poteet.
He did and did an outstanding job.
Beast - Did the wheels just fall off the defense? In your opinion do you think they should have pitched Teddy last night?
P1--I think the only players on the field for Poteet last night that didn't make an error were 1st base and center field...that should tell you how the game went. When the opposing team scores 5 runs with 2 outs and 1 hit, I don't think the wheels fell off, I think the car broke down! Hopefully tonight will be a much better game. I would expect to see TN Jr. on the mound tonight.
Hopefully HIS DEFENSE WILL SHOW UP!!!!
Hopefully HIS DEFENSE WILL SHOW UP!!!!
P1, 1st question Yes and 2nd question No.
TN Jr. went to Thomas Jefferson.
Poteet is young and dumb.
They grew up last night, better things will happen tonight.

Ouch...my bad Beast....I don't know if I would wanna see TN Jr. on the mound tonight....I've seen him throw BP...he's kinda gunshy these days!
I wouldn't say they are dumb.
I thought the teams put out their aces in the first game...
Nope.
Well not to try to second guess anyone. I would have pitched Teddy last night. Then hope the home field helps you win 1 out of the next 2. Our other pitchers, do much better at home where they are more comfortable. Thats all assuming he gets the win last night.
Besides that there is a good chance of storms Saturday afternoon. Might get Teddy an extra day of rest then come back and pitch more in game 3 (if needed of course)

He wouldn't pitch on one days rest.
Where's the game tonight? At Roughriders again?
It doesnt matter who pitched, or where they pitched, its about who played better, and the lions did that last night. It might not have been either of their aces pitching, but McKinney got the job done... didnt they? You can say all you want about how the Poteet pitchers like to pitch at home, or they are more comfortable there, but for all I know that was a neutral site last night, and a very cool one might I add. Van Los Leones!
Its at Tillery Field by the rodeo in mesquite.
I thought I saw TN JR watching the game not far from TN SR.
6E, 8E, 4E in one inning, whatever -- ugly baseball
McKinney simply played a cleaner game last night -- they deserved to win. A very nice performance from an unexpected starter. The Poteet outfielders seemed lost on the larger field.
In any case, it's a fine venue to watch baseball.
Poteet will be back on familiar ground. I bet West will be glad to be back on grass.

If Poteet wins, where is the third game?
Poteet!
Poorteet!
How did the Poteet errors allow them them to get only 4 hits? I heard at least 2 of the 4 left the infield.
P.S. I saw 7 errors for Plano West

aplanodad -- now you're getting logical
What if the score ends 2-0 without the errors?

APD, How is offseason baseball?

Well McKinney is in the drivers seat now. If they do finish the job, I hope they make it all the way to Round Rock to show those people down south we have good baseball here too. But its not near over here yet hopefully at least 14 more innings to play. MHS still has a big hurdle to get over tonight.
P1, he is saying he can't pass the taks test.

The McKinney vs. Poteet game is at Mesquite Poteet High School. NOT TILLERY.
Those Mesquite fans have such a good sense of humor!

Sorry, that was a poor attempt at humor. Water under the bridge...or should I say mound! Let's just enjoy ourselves before judgement time at 7:30.

We wouldn't mislead you McKinney fans on purpose.. Come on now. We would never do that as far as you know.
P1...you need to be nice to us. Three McKinney boys play for the dragons, including my son. Looks like your new avatar shows you are a dragon fan.
