Did I look at the schedule right? Is there a local team triple header this afternoon/evening?

Does anyone know if there are pitching rotations or will it be plug in whomever? Especially the local teams.

OP, is ML still scheduled for today? Do you know when AB is scheduled?

BP,

ML is on the bump!! Hope he brings his A game!
Ken -- it's a special atmosphere -- a first-class event. Our 4:00 game had a nice crowd, but it is early in the tournament and Canada did not bring a large group of fans. It wasn't particularly rowdy today. I think the excitement will grow. It looked like there would be a larger crowd tonight for McKinney's first game versus PR. clapping

Just wanted to get your feedback as I have also experienced the MMWS.

Coached DBAT 16U back in the day. Wink
Puerto Rico 4
Maverick's 0

9 innings

Great game for the fans. A lot of great defensive plays, double plays, runner thrown out at the plate for the 3rd out in the seventh. 0-0 through 8. PR broke the game open in the 9th for 4 runs.

Lackie-LP (but he threw a great game Wink)

8-2/3IP
5 H (2 infield singles in the 9th that hurt. ML couldn't outrun Ruben Sierra, Jr. to first on one of them!)
4 R
4 ER
5 BB
7 K's

Not much offense for the Mav's tonight, but they made up for it on the field!

Congratulations to all the teams that won today.

DBAT vs. Dallas Giants tomorrow night 6pm. Should be a great game.

Mav's play after that game @ 9pm.

OP -- sounds like ML did everything he could -- what a great effort! I know you're proud.

Is that really Ruben's kid -- or a namesake? I imagine he is a hero in their country.

P-Son didn't have his best stuff tonight, but he battled -- I'm proud of him too. Thanks all for the well-wishes. Now he'll try to help defensively and from the plate.

As I mentioned earlier, there are no weak teams in McKinney this week.

PD ~ Tell the little cub congrats! 6 plus innings and not his best stuff is scary for the next opponent.

OP ~ Wow! Congrats to ML, also. It might not have been a win, but certainly sounds like a victory. I didn't know one pitcher could go that long! Amazing!

Wish I could be in two places at once. The 16 MMWS sounds exciting! Good luck to all!
We're enjoying the ride, FO -- I hope to see you there sometime this week.

Cain started for the Giants yesterday, I believe he pitched 4 innings.

The times have been changed to accomodate the host team, who will play the late game whenever possible. The DBAT versus Giants game will begin at 6. The two team split this season and there are many friendships between the two groups --- it will be exciting.

Very impressive, indeed. Both teams had exceptional pitching. Frankly, the hitting wasn't bad, the pitching was just that good. One of the most entertaining games I've ever watched. Good pitching, good defense, good umps, good strategy, etc.

Maybe the strongest Mavs team in quite a while. We might hear some more from them before this is over.

The near-future of McKinney baseball, even though it will be diluted between the three HS's, looks pretty good.

Speculation: Alex Baker on the hump tonight.

This is confirmed by MMWS:

DBAT vs. Dallas Giants 6pm
Mavs vs. (I don't know actually) 9pm

They want the local teams to have the better times for local fans to have a chance to see them play.

Thanks to everyone about ML last night. He battled all night and the defense was amazing behind him. I counted 4 double plays and the throw to home to finish the top of the 7th was amazing! It was fun to watch, I just wish the outcome would have been different!!

Not crying over spilled milk here.....but IMHO.......ML got a 3rd strike looking on the 3rd batter of the ninth inning that would have been the 3rd out. The ump gave him that pitch all night, but squeezed him on that pitch. He ended up walking that batter and the rest is history. It could've been a different outcome had the ump rung up that kid.....but hey....that's baseball for sure! Still a great game that I'll never forget!
OP......... Can you say AMAZING??? What a game and THE BEST PITCHING I have seen since moving to texas. Was in the stands ( crowded) and just to let ya know your son was the talk... and he walked the walk... I know your proud as can be. Was also heard that he is gonna be missed at Rockwall, That has to hurt to lose such talent. Not only him but the starting pitching was a senior... OUCH !!! I hope that the rest of the games wll be as good as last nite. Good Luck although I don't think he or the team need it... Great Baseball keep it up.

Surething,

Thank you for the kind words about Matt. He did a pretty good job, I do have to say. There were several "little things" that he could have done better, but overall, he did fine.

Rockwall has a good group of pitchers returning with seniors Philip Clinard and Ty Lunday and juniors Cody Fields, Richard Parson and Garrett Henderson coming up from the JV. They will all contribute next spring and they will have a good team.

I'm glad you wised up and finally got to Texas!! Good move on your part!

If you're at the MMWS the rest of the week, flag me down and say hello, I'd love to meet you.

Take care!

PD,

He started the 9th at 107 and ended up throwing 132. He's not real sore today, surprisingly, but he never is really after he pitches. He's chomping at the bit to get a game behind the plate now. Hopefully we can win one and he can get to catch one. He loves to catch as much as he love's to pitch!

Good luck tonight against the Giants! I'll be there rooting for you guys!
