Puerto Rico plays the Cubs tonight after the DBAT vs. Rockies game.

The 7:30pm game was actually supposed to start at 6, but the Rockies had to go extra innings with the Giants, so they are giving them time to catch their breath a little.

Now the 9pm game will be played after the 6pm game that is actually the 7:30 game.

Now are you confused?
And, DBAT wins again this evening 7-4.

The first game this afternoon was a great game. After going down 3-1 on some errors, DBAT battled their way back with power hitting and moving runs with perfectly executed sac bunts to tie the game late, lose the lead again, and then finally be in a position to win 9-8 with a ball getting by the catcher.

And, it was a pleasure to visit with PDad, observe his son playing the game, with considerable skill and talent, meet his son, Mike, his wife, and their beautiful daughter.

Game at noon tomorrow at Al Alford field.

Emens among the probable starting pitchers.

Great prediction Dtiger..........It's DBAT and the Trombly (California) Cubs in the final. DBAT has the advantage because they will have to be double-dipped to lose. I've seen it happen, but I don't think it can happen today. Too many arms left for DBAT. It's gonna be a fun day out at the park.......and a HOT one!!
DBAT 16's ARE MICKEY MANTLE WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!

After trailing 3-1 from the 1st inning into the bottom of the 7th, DBAT scored two to tie, then moved runners to 2nd and 3rd. After an intentional walk to load the bases and a pitching change, J. T. Files, greets the pitcher's first pitch with a walk off home run to win the game 7-3.

Congrats to the DBAT 16's

Congrats to Panther Dad!

Now, it's fun ain't it?

Thanks everyone for the congratulations! Smile It was a special week. Today was very exciting. Thanks to the coaches for their efforts this year.....helping the guys reach their goal.

Congratulations to the Mustangs as well on their World Series win -- great things happen to great people.

Thanks to T-ball, FO, OP, JB, Casey, and others that supported our guys in person -- and to many others that offered their support here, including Train -- who hopes for good things for Dallas-area baseball.

Thanks again too to the MMWS committee ---- they worked non-stop to put on a great tournament.

I suppose it's time to focus on that brown, oblong ball for a few months.

Is it spring yet???? Smile
Kaleb had a great tournament -- 9-12 from the plate with a win on the mound against the Dallas Giants -- and Offensive MVP of the MMWS! He made a great contribution to DBAT this week. Tanner Moore and Robert Roher also helped make a strong team stronger.

I witnessed first-hand this week the awesome job all of the people involved with the MMWS do. They should be very proud of a job well done. They have everything well thought out and are very organized in what they are doing. We should all give a big hand to all of the organizers including David Gunter and his staff. MANY, MANY hours of preparation and sweat and hard work are poured into this endeavor. It's quite a thankless job, but they do it humbly and wonderfully.

Any corporate people out there that can help in the future, please do so in the years to come. McKinney deserves to continue to have this tournament, and without your support, it won't happen.

Congratulations to all the teams that participated in this great tournament and especially to the champions.......DBAT. What a game in the championship. It was a joy to watch!

Also a shout out to Joe Day for his wonderful Texas BBQ. It in itself is worth the price of admission!

I want to reiterate what OP said about David Gunter and all of the VOLUNTEERS at the Mickey Mantle World Series...THEY WERE AWESOME!

If we want to keep the Mickey Mantle World Series in North Texas, the corporate sponsors need to step up and help this event maintain/evolve into a huge event. The teams, competition, were incredible this week and DBAT feels very fortunate to have won this event. The future could be very bright if we all chip in to make sure this event continues to be a big success.

THANKS MCKINNEY FOR ALL YOU DO!!! We have memories that we will remember for a life time.

I've attended several MMWS in McKinney and besides the heat, the one thing that remains consistent year after year is the professional environment and the diligence of the volunteers.

My four year-old was thrilled about being handed a foul ball by a volunteer at one of the games. Small gesture that went a long way.

Great job by everyone involved - a tip of the (black) hat to all of you!

Thanks, everyone. It is always a lot of work, but it's also a LOT OF FUN. I want to attempt to list the volunteers that work their butts off for this event (at the risk of leaving someone out):

Frank Kerby - 11 years of taking care of too many things to list here.
Jimmy Keith - Chairman & so much more.
Joe Day - not a better man or family alive. He can build anything out of anything. Heard he built a cabin using nothing but a leatherman tool.
Tom Turpin - solves problems before anyone sees them.
Travis Turpin (13 yo energizer bunny)
Tami Sprouse
Jacky Thomas
Kathy Kerby
Robert & Sandy Spengler
Connie Dowell
Steve Babbitt
Randy LeBlanc
Rob Dalton
Dianna Sprouse
Several Maverick parents that I don't have a list of.

BJ Dixon - not enough people know how much time, money and effort this man puts into improving this field. In one day, he and Joe Day (there he is again) rebuilt the mound, rebuilt home plate and the area behind the plate, laid sod behind home plate, redid the warning track, and shaved the dirt portion of the infield with a grader (you should've seen Joe get that thing through the gate by 1st base), as well as reset second base. BJ's son, Michael, also helped. THANKS, B.

Thanks to the Ball Fields at Craig Ranch for use of their facility.

Thanks to the Collin County Baseball Umpire Association.

Thanks to my wife, Lena, for putting up with me and allowing me to do this (although I did love baseball before I fell in love with her.)

Thanks to Al Alford who helped provide a place for me and many others to play.

Thanks to Gabe Nesbitt and Lindsey Gunter who helped show me that it's all about the kids. I know they were both looking down and hopefully they liked what they saw. I know they enjoyed that last game.

I want to apologize to all of the volunteers for the lack of communication Saturday evening when I changed the game times.

As OP and Kirk mentioned, we do need some financial help if we wish to continue this event in McKinney. Our bills are now through the roof, and continue to rise, but our sponsorships/contributions are down. We spend approximately $55,000 to host this tourney. Daniel Jones and Mr. Riggo at Encore Wire have been great, but they can't continue forever. We will be meeting in a week or two once Frank gets all of the numbers, and then we will have to make a decision by October 1 if we will be able to host this event in 2007.

DBAT GM........glad your kid got a ball. We let them keep them and we went through 28 dozen baseballs. It's a good thing Diamond sends us all of the baseballs. Some of those kids had spotters up in the stands and the others would stand outside. Kinda like looking at McCovey Cove when Bonds is up to bat.

If anyone knows how to help, please let us know. We ain't too proud to beg.
