I'll tell you right now the Midland Braves will probably be able to hit the baseball a ton. Last year their line-up was very strong with power, but one stud pitching performance shut them down. My bet is on DBAT or a team from California. Most likely because I feel the best baseball represented in this world series comes from Dallas and California. Last year the California Angels (if I remember correctly) gave us one great game that required a 7th inning come back.

This is all my opinion which isn't much to count for. I think DBAT will have to get some great pitching performances to win (possibly from unlikely candidates), there is no doubt they will hit. I still say the Giants do not have enough depth at pitching... CC can't throw every game. Having said that, if they get to the final with him on the mound, they have a great chance.
I think this will be the best Mav's team that's been put together for the MMWS in a while. Solid pitching staff with some pop at the plate, and some speed on the bases. Don't count these guys out to put together a pretty strong run.

Nice article on the Mavs below:

Mavericks Use Intracity Rivalries To Create Fun Atmosphere

Coach Robert Spengler likes to think the McKinney Mavericks put school allegiances aside when it comes time for the Mickey Mantle World Series.

Spengler’s players from McKinney ISD’s three baseball programs say otherwise.

“There’s a lot of trash talking,” McKinney Boyd pitcher Bryan Kinard said. “I’ll tell you that much right now.”

“We already have bets and promises on who is going to win district, which we are if you wanted to know,” said Spengler’s son Caleb, who attends McKinney.

“It’s all part of the rivalry,” McKinney’s Alex Baker said.

Thirteen of the Mavericks 16 players come from McKinney, McKinney North or Boyd. McKinney features five players, while North and Boyd each boast four.

The Mavericks open the Mickey Mantle World Series at 8 p.m. Wednesday against Puerto Rico at Al Alford Field.

Robert and head coach B.J. Dixon said McKinney’s collection of intracity talent gives it an advantage over the other World Series teams, which consist of star players from throughout entire states. Many of the Mavericks have played on the same team since they were 8.

“They throw schools out the window and play,” Robert said. “They come together and they’re Mavericks.”

The players admit the trash talking is all in good fun and say it helps build camaraderie.

“We’re friends throughout the whole year,” North’s Brandon Hollabaugh said. “You don’t really get to see them a lot during the [high school] season, so it’s kind of fun to see them out here.”

“It’s actually kind of fun to play with the guys you play against during the high school season,” Baker said. “Instead of always going against them and not liking them, you can build relationships and get to know them better.”

Robert said the relationships built during the summer add fire to the intracity rivalries.

“It’s a lot more fun to beat a friend than a rival,” he said. “That’s where these guys are during the [district] season. ...You want to beat [your summer teammates] so bad because you like them.”

“You want to play better when you see them out there,” Hollabaugh said. “You want to show them up a little bit.”

“I’ll see my friends [in the batter’s box] when I am pitching and I’ll just start grinning,” Kinard said. “I can’t help it.”

That doesn’t keep the players from enjoying the time they have as teammates -- even if it is at the expense of making fun of one of the other schools.

“We give each other a hard time,” Kinard said. “Say, if someone makes an error, we’ll say, ‘Well that’s what’s going to happen at McKinney this year.’”

“Boyd gets it a lot,” Baker said. “We tell them that they aren’t going to be very good because they have no seniors.”

I love that last line about Boyd.. I dont think North should count there Chickens to early. Boyd has some very good Baseball Players.. Seniors are overrated.. Smile.. You should have had your boy play at Boyd OP.. The facilities over there are awesome..Good luck to the Mavs I'll be out there watching them launch balls in the Day Care parking lot.. Hope the HR derby isn't the same time Mommy and Daddy are picking up the little ones.

Just a note of interest, the MMWS host team has won their first game the last 3 years. This years team looks to have a lot of pitching depth and talent.

I hope the tradition continues with ML on the bump for that game. Should be exciting stuff. I hate to admit this, but I have never been to a MMWS game before. I'm looking forward to seeing my first one Wed. night.

It's going to be fun watching these kids develop over the next couple of years. I know Boyd has some strong talent coming up in the younger grades. Coach Milam will have a lot of great kids to choose from for sure.

North should have a good squad this coming spring with the guy's returning, the addition of ML and move-in Trey Sorrells (he's a stud).

McKinney High will have one of their best teams in a few years in my opinion with the group of juniors they have to pick from.

Great times ahead for all McKinney HS teams. I can't wait to see them all do very good. I just hope North can come out on top for personal reasons of course!!

See ya'll this week!
The World Series should be awesome. Our 16U team, Trombly Cubs, is headed there and looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately (or fortunately) our 18U team, Trombly Braves, will be in Farmington for the Connie Mack World Series so I will not be able to be in Texas w/ our 16U guys. Too bad the dates don't allow you to do both because it would have been great to be able to experience the Mickey Mantle and Connie Mack World Series this summer.

Good Luck to all of the players and team that will be there. It should be a great week of baseball.

Trey is coming here from Greenville. He has been their starting catcher since his freshman year. He was 1st team all-district catcher as a freshman.

He plays for the Dallas Mustangs-Gustafson 16U this summer. He's the kid that hit 3 HR in one game a couple of weeks ago that I did a thread on.

He'll probably have to play another position though this year because of FO's son returning for his senior year. He can play 3rd and 1st as well.

Great problem to have, huh Steve? Congratulations to you and your organization!
It is a great problem to have. One of our former coaches, Mark Flatten, moved to Texas last summer. He helped start the Trombly Baseball program 3 years ag. He is coaching the Blue Sox this summer in the TCL and lives 5 minutes from McKinney. It would have been great to go out there and see him and Texas. I have never been to Texas and Mark has been trying to get me to move my family out there!

FYI, Mark is a very good coach and is looking for a travel orgaization to coach with. Please let me know if there are any teams looking for a coach as Mark would be great for any program.

Melynda,

The mom's on the team have been getting water bottles to fill with rocks, coins, etc. to make as much noise as possible. I appreciate the heads up on any messing with the PR's.
Congratulations to the Trombly Cubs for winning the team competition at the 16U Mickey Mantle World Series today in McKinney, Texas. They received a trophy and a $150 team dinner one night this week.

There were several events and points were awarded for each event and totaled up. After the completion of all the events the Cubs had the most total points!

Here are the events:

-HR Derby-
We got 2nd Place.
Our players that participated were:
Brooks Pounders-RHP/3B ('09 Riverside Poly)
Bryan Nicholson-LHP/1B ('07 Pacifica)

-Around the horn-
We got 1st Place.
Our players that particpated were:
Ronnie Shaeffer-C ('08 Pacifica)
Billy Silvestri-C/SS ('07 Pacifica)
Austin Barnes-SS ('08 Riverside Poly)
Jack Marder-2B ('09 Newbury Park)
Nick Torres-RHP/3B ('08 Edison)

-OF Relay-
We got 2nd Place.
Our players that particpated were:
Aaron Gates-LHP/OF ('08 Orange Lutheran)
Richard Stock-C/OF ('09 Agoura)
Kevin Chambers-LHP/OF ('09 Capo Valley)
Derek Collins-1B/OF ('08 Esperanza)

-Fastest around the bases-
We didn't do too well.

Congratulations guys and good luck this week!
I interviewed Mark Flatten before the 2005 season at the Rock. We were full and no spots open but I was impressed with his knowledge and understanding of the game. He's a great guy and I second that nomination for anyone looking for a great coach in any select situation. I think he coaches in Frisco. Been trying to keep up with him.
Anyone know how our "local" teams/players fared in the skills competition?

Did I look at the schedule right? Is there a local team triple header this afternoon/evening?

Does anyone know if there are pitching rotations or will it be plug in whomever? Especially the local teams.

OP, is ML still scheduled for today? Do you know when AB is scheduled?
ML will pitch against the team from Puerto Rico today at Alford.

DBAT won the base-running competition and did well in the HR derby before losing in overtime to the Trombly team. They finished in the top half in Outfield relay -- and looked sharp in the Around-the-horn contest.

The Giants also did well in several of the events, including the long-ball competition.

No news on the pitching selections for the Giants or DBAT ---- I might speculate Smile --- Cain versus the Florida Pokers and Cunningham vs the Ontario Blue Jays.

It will be a great day of baseball in McKinney ----- there are no weak teams in this group.

Anyone who has the chance to be at the MMWS please post info here. It's killing me to not be able to be there with our 16U guys and I will be checking in with our other coaches/parents as well as checking here for updates. Our 18U team leaves for Farmington in the morning and having been there last year I have an idea of what to expect in terms of competitition. However, this is our 1st trip to the MMWS and I do not know what to expect there. I know that we have a good team and I am proud of players for the way they have played this summer. They really are a good group of kids (not talking about baseball ability). It will be great to see how they do against some of the best competition in the country in terms of 16U teams. Win or lose, it will be a great experience for our players, coaches, and parents and ending our summer at the World Series is awesome.

Good Luck to all of the players and teams participating!

BP,

ML is on the bump!! Hope he brings his A game!
Ken -- it's a special atmosphere -- a first-class event. Our 4:00 game had a nice crowd, but it is early in the tournament and Canada did not bring a large group of fans. It wasn't particularly rowdy today. I think the excitement will grow. It looked like there would be a larger crowd tonight for McKinney's first game versus PR. clapping

Just wanted to get your feedback as I have also experienced the MMWS.

Coached DBAT 16U back in the day. Wink
Puerto Rico 4
Maverick's 0

9 innings

Great game for the fans. A lot of great defensive plays, double plays, runner thrown out at the plate for the 3rd out in the seventh. 0-0 through 8. PR broke the game open in the 9th for 4 runs.

Lackie-LP (but he threw a great game Wink)

8-2/3IP
5 H (2 infield singles in the 9th that hurt. ML couldn't outrun Ruben Sierra, Jr. to first on one of them!)
4 R
4 ER
5 BB
7 K's

Not much offense for the Mav's tonight, but they made up for it on the field!

Congratulations to all the teams that won today.

DBAT vs. Dallas Giants tomorrow night 6pm. Should be a great game.

Mav's play after that game @ 9pm.

OP -- sounds like ML did everything he could -- what a great effort! I know you're proud.

Is that really Ruben's kid -- or a namesake? I imagine he is a hero in their country.

P-Son didn't have his best stuff tonight, but he battled -- I'm proud of him too. Thanks all for the well-wishes. Now he'll try to help defensively and from the plate.

As I mentioned earlier, there are no weak teams in McKinney this week.

-PD
PD ~ Tell the little cub congrats! 6 plus innings and not his best stuff is scary for the next opponent.

OP ~ Wow! Congrats to ML, also. It might not have been a win, but certainly sounds like a victory. I didn't know one pitcher could go that long! Amazing!

Wish I could be in two places at once. The 16 MMWS sounds exciting! Good luck to all!
We're enjoying the ride, FO -- I hope to see you there sometime this week.

Cain started for the Giants yesterday, I believe he pitched 4 innings.

The times have been changed to accomodate the host team, who will play the late game whenever possible. The DBAT versus Giants game will begin at 6. The two team split this season and there are many friendships between the two groups --- it will be exciting.

Very impressive, indeed. Both teams had exceptional pitching. Frankly, the hitting wasn't bad, the pitching was just that good. One of the most entertaining games I've ever watched. Good pitching, good defense, good umps, good strategy, etc.

Maybe the strongest Mavs team in quite a while. We might hear some more from them before this is over.

The near-future of McKinney baseball, even though it will be diluted between the three HS's, looks pretty good.

Speculation: Alex Baker on the hump tonight.

This is confirmed by MMWS:

DBAT vs. Dallas Giants 6pm
Mavs vs. (I don't know actually) 9pm

They want the local teams to have the better times for local fans to have a chance to see them play.

Thanks to everyone about ML last night. He battled all night and the defense was amazing behind him. I counted 4 double plays and the throw to home to finish the top of the 7th was amazing! It was fun to watch, I just wish the outcome would have been different!!

Not crying over spilled milk here.....but IMHO.......ML got a 3rd strike looking on the 3rd batter of the ninth inning that would have been the 3rd out. The ump gave him that pitch all night, but squeezed him on that pitch. He ended up walking that batter and the rest is history. It could've been a different outcome had the ump rung up that kid.....but hey....that's baseball for sure! Still a great game that I'll never forget!
OP......... Can you say AMAZING??? What a game and THE BEST PITCHING I have seen since moving to texas. Was in the stands ( crowded) and just to let ya know your son was the talk... and he walked the walk... I know your proud as can be. Was also heard that he is gonna be missed at Rockwall, That has to hurt to lose such talent. Not only him but the starting pitching was a senior... OUCH !!! I hope that the rest of the games wll be as good as last nite. Good Luck although I don't think he or the team need it... Great Baseball keep it up.

Surething,

Thank you for the kind words about Matt. He did a pretty good job, I do have to say. There were several "little things" that he could have done better, but overall, he did fine.

Rockwall has a good group of pitchers returning with seniors Philip Clinard and Ty Lunday and juniors Cody Fields, Richard Parson and Garrett Henderson coming up from the JV. They will all contribute next spring and they will have a good team.

I'm glad you wised up and finally got to Texas!! Good move on your part!

If you're at the MMWS the rest of the week, flag me down and say hello, I'd love to meet you.

Take care!

PD,

He started the 9th at 107 and ended up throwing 132. He's not real sore today, surprisingly, but he never is really after he pitches. He's chomping at the bit to get a game behind the plate now. Hopefully we can win one and he can get to catch one. He loves to catch as much as he love's to pitch!

Good luck tonight against the Giants! I'll be there rooting for you guys!

People may fail many times, but they become failures only when they begin to blame someone else??????????????
PD-

congratulate your team, and more specifically your son on that amazing play at 3rd... was he really out? hmm.. but you give it to him with that play

i am espically glad since someone on the opposing team tried to hot dog a homerun that ended up going foul... i thought that kind of showboating only happened in the major leagues..

oh well.

BTW... are you sponsered by UA? or just a model.. Wink
jb --- I think the kid was safe at first -- and I'm not sure the ball wasn't foul. I think they rewarded PantherSon for making a good play. There were a few "odd" calls tonight. Wink

It wasn't a pretty game, but our offense has been tough to stop.

DBAT 12
Giants 4
5 innings

WP - Merck

Model for UA??? HA! (pick an old fat guy and ask him to wear your hats and shirts --- that will sell the product!) Big Grin
It was a heckuva play at third. The ball was fair, and the runner was safe. Thankfully, it wasn't a close game because it appeared the giants got jobbed on the play at 2nd as well. But with 8 errors to their credit, I doubt the Giants are complaining.

Count on both of those two teams playing better. Just one of those nights. The McKinney Mavericks layed an egg in the late game to get eliminated 10-1. Michigan threw a real nice pitcher though.

JABO
JABO -- not sure which play at 2nd you are referring to -- a DBAT kid was called out on a force play -- it appeared that the Giants SS jumped to catch the ball from 1st and was not on the bag. Apparently, the rules are slightly different than we have seen called this year in that a runner can "take out" a fielder as long as he slides into the bag, without spikes up, which he did. I thought the ump missed the call in favor of the Giants. On another play at 2nd, it looked like the DBAT player (running on the play) beat the ground ball force....but the runner was called out. Both calls went in favor of the Giants. As you said though, these plays did not have an impact on the game.

DBAT did make two errors and a few other misplays that cost them runs. The Giants are a good team, they just made too many mistakes tonight.
OP......... Missed the game last nite but from reading on here yall did your thing AGAIN.... congrats !!! I do have one question iof I may ( I hope I'm not out of line) if so just let me know.. Did he really pitch 132 pitches??? GOOD LORD what an arm. any worries about that? Do you think a high school coach would allow 132 pitches? If I may ask what was his hardest clocked pitch? I will continue to watch when I can.. Hell I will be watching this kid on T>V. one day... No Doubt !! Keep up the good work.. GO DBAT
quote:
Most HS coaches wouldn't even think twice about throwing a kid 130 pitches. Saw one kid throw 160 this spring

I know some HS coaches who would, and be very upset with a summer team coach doing this. And if they didn't, might be in the best interest for a parent to consider it. I see way too many kids going down with arm problems. Sure, in the heat of the moment things seem fine. What happens a year or two from now.
Drew's defense let him down. The DBAT offense applied the pressure. It was just one of those games. As you know, there are many things that do not show up in box scores. And don't put too much stock in the ones on the MMWS website....(they're not 100% accurate). No offense MMWS! Smile

Two of the Giant's 4 runs should have been cut down at the plate....again, no errors recorded. Another one scored as the result of a throwing error.

As was stated earlier, it was not a high-quality game from a logistical standpoint. Having said that, DBAT dominated. We have friends on the Giants and my comments aren't meant to offend anyone....they're just my opinion of the game. At one point, the score was 5-4....and #22 just missed a long home run. A few more feet and the ending might have been completely different.

All in all, it's game that both teams are glad is behind them.

Surething,

I know what you mean about the pitch count being up there. I wasn't keeping count during the game and was surprised to hear it was 132. Matt has thrown well over 100 pitches on several occasions and he has NEVER even told me his arm was sore the next day. Not even the muscles in the shoulder. He had only thrown 60 pitches in the prior 2 weeks, which was last Saturday night at a practice, so his arm was plenty rested prior to the outing.

I would have been concerned had this happened during HS because it would have still been early in the season, but with it being August and he's thrown 119 1/3 innings this entire year, his arm can handle it. I think the pitch count thing gets over-rated at times anyway. Pitchers should be able to throw 132 pitches this time of year without much problem in my opinion.

To sum this up, I definitely wouldn't want him throwing that many pitches on a regular basis, but like I said, with it being August, the fact that he's thrown almost 120 innings this year and the 2 weeks off he had prior to the outing, I don't think it was a real big deal.

The fastest pitch I saw on the Stalker that a Met scout that was there had was 87mph. He was sitting at 85-86 most of the game. The starter for Puerto Rico was at 83-85 and the lefty that they brought in the last 2 innings was hitting 88 pretty consistently.

It's funny you mentioned the DBAT thing. Matt's regular team is actually DBAT, but he wanted to play with his hometown team, the Mav's, in the MMWS this year. I think they will end up winning this tournament. They are hitting like crazy right now. There will have to be some kind of stud to come in and shut down their offense for them to lose.
quote:
With these losses for the Mavs, why so many excuses about little thing? They lost the game and ML played for the wrong team in this tourney and should have been loyal to his team. Is DBAT still the fav.?

WS,

What excuses are you referring to?

DBAT beat Puerto Rico tonight 7-3 to go 3-0 in the tourney. They play the Trombly Cubs tomorrow at 1pm. I say DBAT is the favorite after the performance they had tonight. I know the Cubs may have something to say about that though.
Just so you know, those of you who may be driving to the games at Al Alford field, the church parking lot is now closed and off limits.

The city guys do not pick up trash in this parking lot, so I was out there until around 2:30 a.m. picking up trash. The diaper was the last straw. Whoever had KFC wasn't any help, either.

This post was much nicer than the one I was thinking about posting at 3:00 a.m.

Have a good day and enjoy the baseball.
Puerto Rico plays the Cubs tonight after the DBAT vs. Rockies game.

The 7:30pm game was actually supposed to start at 6, but the Rockies had to go extra innings with the Giants, so they are giving them time to catch their breath a little.

Now the 9pm game will be played after the 6pm game that is actually the 7:30 game.

Now are you confused?
And, DBAT wins again this evening 7-4.

The first game this afternoon was a great game. After going down 3-1 on some errors, DBAT battled their way back with power hitting and moving runs with perfectly executed sac bunts to tie the game late, lose the lead again, and then finally be in a position to win 9-8 with a ball getting by the catcher.

And, it was a pleasure to visit with PDad, observe his son playing the game, with considerable skill and talent, meet his son, Mike, his wife, and their beautiful daughter.

Game at noon tomorrow at Al Alford field.

Emens among the probable starting pitchers.

Great prediction Dtiger..........It's DBAT and the Trombly (California) Cubs in the final. DBAT has the advantage because they will have to be double-dipped to lose. I've seen it happen, but I don't think it can happen today. Too many arms left for DBAT. It's gonna be a fun day out at the park.......and a HOT one!!
DBAT 16's ARE MICKEY MANTLE WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!

After trailing 3-1 from the 1st inning into the bottom of the 7th, DBAT scored two to tie, then moved runners to 2nd and 3rd. After an intentional walk to load the bases and a pitching change, J. T. Files, greets the pitcher's first pitch with a walk off home run to win the game 7-3.

Congrats to the DBAT 16's

Congrats to Panther Dad!

Now, it's fun ain't it?

Thanks everyone for the congratulations! Smile It was a special week. Today was very exciting. Thanks to the coaches for their efforts this year.....helping the guys reach their goal.

Congratulations to the Mustangs as well on their World Series win -- great things happen to great people.

Thanks to T-ball, FO, OP, JB, Casey, and others that supported our guys in person -- and to many others that offered their support here, including Train -- who hopes for good things for Dallas-area baseball.

Thanks again too to the MMWS committee ---- they worked non-stop to put on a great tournament.

I suppose it's time to focus on that brown, oblong ball for a few months.

Is it spring yet???? Smile
Kaleb had a great tournament -- 9-12 from the plate with a win on the mound against the Dallas Giants -- and Offensive MVP of the MMWS! He made a great contribution to DBAT this week. Tanner Moore and Robert Roher also helped make a strong team stronger.

I witnessed first-hand this week the awesome job all of the people involved with the MMWS do. They should be very proud of a job well done. They have everything well thought out and are very organized in what they are doing. We should all give a big hand to all of the organizers including David Gunter and his staff. MANY, MANY hours of preparation and sweat and hard work are poured into this endeavor. It's quite a thankless job, but they do it humbly and wonderfully.

Any corporate people out there that can help in the future, please do so in the years to come. McKinney deserves to continue to have this tournament, and without your support, it won't happen.

Congratulations to all the teams that participated in this great tournament and especially to the champions.......DBAT. What a game in the championship. It was a joy to watch!

Also a shout out to Joe Day for his wonderful Texas BBQ. It in itself is worth the price of admission!

I want to reiterate what OP said about David Gunter and all of the VOLUNTEERS at the Mickey Mantle World Series...THEY WERE AWESOME!

If we want to keep the Mickey Mantle World Series in North Texas, the corporate sponsors need to step up and help this event maintain/evolve into a huge event. The teams, competition, were incredible this week and DBAT feels very fortunate to have won this event. The future could be very bright if we all chip in to make sure this event continues to be a big success.

THANKS MCKINNEY FOR ALL YOU DO!!! We have memories that we will remember for a life time.

I've attended several MMWS in McKinney and besides the heat, the one thing that remains consistent year after year is the professional environment and the diligence of the volunteers.

My four year-old was thrilled about being handed a foul ball by a volunteer at one of the games. Small gesture that went a long way.

Great job by everyone involved - a tip of the (black) hat to all of you!

Thanks, everyone. It is always a lot of work, but it's also a LOT OF FUN. I want to attempt to list the volunteers that work their butts off for this event (at the risk of leaving someone out):

Frank Kerby - 11 years of taking care of too many things to list here.
Jimmy Keith - Chairman & so much more.
Joe Day - not a better man or family alive. He can build anything out of anything. Heard he built a cabin using nothing but a leatherman tool.
Tom Turpin - solves problems before anyone sees them.
Travis Turpin (13 yo energizer bunny)
Tami Sprouse
Jacky Thomas
Kathy Kerby
Robert & Sandy Spengler
Connie Dowell
Steve Babbitt
Randy LeBlanc
Rob Dalton
Dianna Sprouse
Several Maverick parents that I don't have a list of.

BJ Dixon - not enough people know how much time, money and effort this man puts into improving this field. In one day, he and Joe Day (there he is again) rebuilt the mound, rebuilt home plate and the area behind the plate, laid sod behind home plate, redid the warning track, and shaved the dirt portion of the infield with a grader (you should've seen Joe get that thing through the gate by 1st base), as well as reset second base. BJ's son, Michael, also helped. THANKS, B.

Thanks to the Ball Fields at Craig Ranch for use of their facility.

Thanks to the Collin County Baseball Umpire Association.

Thanks to my wife, Lena, for putting up with me and allowing me to do this (although I did love baseball before I fell in love with her.)

Thanks to Al Alford who helped provide a place for me and many others to play.

Thanks to Gabe Nesbitt and Lindsey Gunter who helped show me that it's all about the kids. I know they were both looking down and hopefully they liked what they saw. I know they enjoyed that last game.

I want to apologize to all of the volunteers for the lack of communication Saturday evening when I changed the game times.

As OP and Kirk mentioned, we do need some financial help if we wish to continue this event in McKinney. Our bills are now through the roof, and continue to rise, but our sponsorships/contributions are down. We spend approximately $55,000 to host this tourney. Daniel Jones and Mr. Riggo at Encore Wire have been great, but they can't continue forever. We will be meeting in a week or two once Frank gets all of the numbers, and then we will have to make a decision by October 1 if we will be able to host this event in 2007.

DBAT GM........glad your kid got a ball. We let them keep them and we went through 28 dozen baseballs. It's a good thing Diamond sends us all of the baseballs. Some of those kids had spotters up in the stands and the others would stand outside. Kinda like looking at McCovey Cove when Bonds is up to bat.

If anyone knows how to help, please let us know. We ain't too proud to beg.

I'm learning. Thanks to Robert Roher's dad for the .jpeg -- I hope it isn't copyrighted! Red Shoes and all -- a great group of kids. Smile
