We are in the process of completing the NCAA Worksheet for my son. We noticed that courses taken on a pass/fail basis (GPA Excempt) are counted by NCAA as the lowest passing grade given by the school. This was a surprise. My son is a junior this year and came home early in the school year and told us he had this option. I asked his counselor about this and he said it was an option given to juniors/seniors and would allow them credit for a class without impacting their GPA. Fortunately my son did not opt for this and currently has an A in the class. He currently has a 4.0 according to NCAA's worksheet. This would have hurt him.
