Guy says he is from Florida. I can send him to a reliable person for that 3rd party evaluation.
Let's see if he has the balls to do it...excuse the expression. But if you come here yanking my chain lets see how real you really are.

TPM shame on you. I like to think of you as a mother figure here.
Would it be wrong for us to speak with the coaches about the other outfielders shortcomings?
Of course not! Don’t leave out the coach either. List his shortcomings for him.

I think some of the more effective strategies I've seen are texting the coach during the game if he's not in the lineup (Coaches do make mistakes), requesting to be an assistant coach on the team.. i'd recommend coaching first base, setting up a tripod to film his every move... you never know when magic will happen... right next to the dugout is the best location and screaming instructions while he's at bat to make sure he performs at his best (after all, every at bat counts), or be the official score keeper...you never know when a close hit/error call will be needed.
If the coaching staff isn’t doing this make sure when he’s at bat to yell at him to keep the back elbow up.

What? and get distracted from yelling at the umpire that none of those 3 pitches his son watched go by were NOT strikes? Blue was clearly biased.

Sorry. Think of me as that mother figure gone bad.....
I like to think of you and Paula as adding some civility to this mob.

You should hear us on the phone. Lol.

TPM- I really don't understand the second part of your reply. As to the first part any chance you are talking about former LLWS star, Yale baseball captain and America's Governor Ron DeSantis as the 3rd party evaluator? If so please do send his digits in a DM. Thanks again.

GloFisher - I really thought texting the coach during the game was a line not to cross but I guess coaches do make mistakes. As for assistant coaching I've been one before but it ended horribly. That's a whole thread onto itself. I didn't see that axe coming.
This is getting better!!

We can set you up with someone to evaluate your son. If you can't provide info, you proved my point.
I will make it interesting. I can meet you at a field near TPM and her and I can surely give you a fair evaluation. We both had sons who played P5 and both our sons coach. If he is as legit as you say, we can give you a recommendation.

I would pay money to watch that

Have to meet in FL as he states that's where he lives. Big training center where I am, owned by sons friend. Or he can go to Cressy, or his travel team guys. Lots of options. He can attend any D1, D2, Juco camp for evaluation. Or a mlb in his area.
We will as AL to meet us!

Lets do this! Thank you TPM. I have been told by everyone that I am very perceptive. You know that I can really read a situation. I would have sworn that you were calling me out earlier but now I see that you are really trying to help us. That is much appreciated. I got called for extra OT today so later tonight or tomorrow evening I will circle back with the home team to figure out some dates. I am just outside of Jacksonville, have to think you are south of me. Awesome stuff!!
Two polar opposites collaborating to evaluate a fictional ballplayer? What could possibly go wrong with that?!?
Is there a live stream?
This whole exchange is hilarious. I feel the full weight of responsibility…

Waaaayyy south. But I will put together a suggestion for a plan for you later.
Will send you a private message, whichyou can find at the top corner of the page.
@anotherparent posted:So, I disagree that a parent can't talk to a travel coach. In fact, most would agree that that's the only kind of coach a parent CAN talk to. For college recruiting, you need to be talking to him.
But, you absolutely can't be "telling" the coach things. You should entirely be ASKING him things. ASK him what kind of colleges your son should be targeting. Don't argue with him, if you don't like what he says, go find someone else to ask (and if he says that your son is short and slow and not D1, he may know what he's talking about). ASK him what the team's plan is for getting your son in front of the right coaches. ASK him what your son needs to do to become better.
i call my son's coach all the time. he has a line on some really good quality california red oak chunks that makes for fantastic brisket and short ribs.
Ok I laughed for a long time but now I am thinking I will probably want the evaluation too.

Agreed. Might as well invite everyone here's kids and some coaches and call it a camp.
Or maybe leave the coaches out, forget the stream, but invite all the kids and have TPM, PF, ADB, and maybe Cabbage there to tell folks straight up what level they should be targeting or if they should stick to video games.

I can't tell a player where they belong, but I know someone who says maybe they can help.
Keep in mind players play all sorts of rolls depending on where you are at. A coach will never turn a player down, but truth is some play every game and some sit. It's up to the player to decide what's important.
In all seriousness, pm sent. If he is serious then he will have to give up some info, and stop acting like a jerk.
btw, AdB, I was absolutely gutted when you beat me to a Sidd Finch reference.
Off Topic, but those were the glory years of baseball: Pete Rose destroying Ray Fosse in a home plate collision at the All star game, Sidd Finch, Mark 'The Bird' Fidrych, Hoyt Wilhelm, Steve Garvey's sexposé, Vida "True" Blue, Mike Marshall picking Olympic Sprinter Herb Washington off first base in the 74 WS, Carlton Fisk waving his homer fair one night and Bill Buckner waving bye bye to a grounder rolling between his legs the next night.
Geez, I'm getting old.
Speaking of getting old:
Not much was better than spending a summer evening in Section 34 in Memorial Stadium when the O's were in their prime and Wild Bill Hagy was holding court.
Well folks, That Guy has informed me and wanted to share with you all that he won't be returning to the board.
I will just leave it at that for now.
Hmmm. I’m a little puzzled. And disappointed.
Hard dude for me to read.

OMG, what are we supposed to do for the rest of our lives?
Hmm, I'm surprised he had so much time to post yesterday, I swear I was talking to him in the stands at the Showball camp. Because it has to be "That Guy" that would bring water to his kid mid-camp (not during a break even) and give him a quick pep talk while he was there, right?
Seriously funny stuff!

Don't worry some other parent will come by with the "my son is better than everyone on the team but he sits the bench, advice needed".
I am just tired of hearing about bad coaches, coach is stupid, blah, blah blah. True there are some better than others, but enough already.
Or we have a jokester within our community.
It was a brilliant satire, because it was just close enough to what does, in fact, happen. That's why half called bullshit, and the other half gave serious advice. Which is good, because future parents might happen onto the thread and start thinking about taking their kids to the DR.

A guy at our high school got ticked at the coach his soph kid was assigned to JV. He felt the kid should have been starting on varsity. He decided he was going to show our high school. He used a transfer loophole rule (phony marriage separation) to move his kid to our rival high school. He didn’t start there either. Not even senior year. It was just another case of a delusional dad of a 14u stud not playing grade appropriate before puberty leveled the playing field.
