Hey guys,
After seeing two doctors, the second being Dr. Ciccotti (Phillies), I have been diagnosed with a partially torn UCL. I still have a dynamic ultrasound test next week to determine the severity of the tear but just wanted some opinions. I'm a pitcher going into my senior year of college. This past season is when I started dealing with elbow pain but I pitched through the season and took a couple weeks off to see how it was but the pain came back even worse a few weeks later after 2 summer games. Right now I'm in the middle of physical therapy to work on my "kinetic chain". Has anyone had any experience with rehabbing a partially torn UCL? I've heard too many stories where pitchers have rehabbed and ended up needing TJ anyway. If I get surgery obviously my senior year is out of question but as I was considering grad school even before my injury, I would consider it more due to surgery. I'm not sure what I should do because time wise if i get surgery, I will almost definitely be able to play in grad school while if i continue to rehab and end up needing surgery in a few months then I will most likely miss 2 more seasons. BTW, the first doctor recommended I get TJ if I ever wanted to throw 100% again.
Any opinions or experiences are greatly appreciated!
