Love spring training, where even the hearts of Giants and O's fans are filled with hope.

I took my eldest son to Scottsdale to see the Giants in 2010 and we had a blast. It was amazing how many NorCal baseball families we ran into there.  I went with my youngest in 2012 and it was harder for kids to shag BP home runs and get autographs because the Series win created more buzz.  But it was still great.  I keep trying to drag my wife there, but so far she's not budging, even with all the spas nearby.  BTW the Arizona Fall League is fun -- like spring training without the crowds.

Forget pitchers and catchers, college baseball starts!!.   Never looked so forward to a 14 hour drive, each way, to watch baseball...

CTbballDad - @South Carolina right.   Do you know if your son is going to be a weekend starter (i know that's a long shot for a frosh) or if he may see time (likely i would think)?  I look forward to how it all develops and will be following his team this year.

Spring training story:  beautiful sunny day, baseball son was 4.  He wanted to know everything about the game; dad was sick, I was occupied with the baby, so he worked his way into the conversation of the VERY drunk White Sox fans sitting in front of us.  Made them explain what was going on, and what it meant when they yelled things like "a bloop and a blast," he had a great time with them!  Hm, no wonder he is still playing...

Son left yesterday for Miami to work out this week and into the weekend at Boras facility and relax around South Beach. I am excited about S/T, visiting in St Lucie in March and also about college baseball season. We have a friends who son is GT with Gamecocks and look forward to seeing them (& hShuler) at Clemson ..which by the way is the only NON-home game for the Cocks.

Well, until pitchers and catchers report, San Diego has hopes to go all the way!

Ouch Goose! That hurts a lifetime Friars fan's feelings . Sadly, it is not necessarily untrue and I got used to it long ago. As I say EVERY year, maybe this year will be different!

As a Rays fan, I know I can expect a competitive team that has a very good chance of getting a wild card.  I also can expect: 1) a team with a payroll that is roughly 3x Tampa Bay's beating the Rays in the playoffs; 2) attendance near the bottom of MLB (but probably better than the Marlins); and 3) a 2021 roster that will be missing nearly every player who would have earned over $5M that season.

At least the Red Sox seem to have taken themselves out of the 2020 AL East hunt.  And the Rays should be a lot of fun to watch, so long as I don't let my expectations get (too far) out of line.

I lived in SanDiego during the Randy “small bat” Bass era.

Speaking of St. Lucie.... I like the Mets. They are a fun team with some great young hitters, arguably the best rotation in baseball, and I think the managerial situation may have worked out for the best.    But WTF??

What a typical Mets story!

Chaos is the best way i see it....and i've only been following since '18.

The most Mets thing ever. Right as they were about to be saved for the 2nd time. The Yankees really are the only team in the city that can do anything without making their fans miserable.

1- Knicks: sell the team chants (owner has fans chanting thrown out of the Garden). Owner saying he’s gonna take his time finding a new GM and hiring one the next day.

2- Jets: Letting a GM spend $100 million and go through a whole draft then firing him.

3- Mets: definitely have great fans, though I think they are all some sort of masochists.

4- Rangers- see Knicks

What a spring! It was so filled with promise. (I was looking for something else but stumbled on this. )

I booked my hotel and flight for Arizona and a week later my son tells me of a small pain that he thought he was done with after last season. It turns out he cracked a rib which showed up again as he was prepping for this season. He would miss most, if not all of spring training.

Since we were already committed on flights and a rental car, we decided to go anyway. It turned out to our advantage since he was more available than other trips. From a baseball standpoint, we got to one game after a couple days of non-baseball activity. The next two days were rainouts and then the season was postponed.

The good news is that TMM should soon be able to compete for the opening day roster if the season ever gets under way.
