yeah I haven't heard much at this point, but all those names you mentioned will definitely get drafted. Carlson is someone a team can take a chance on in an earlier round because of his size and potential. In terms of hitters, I don't really know of any names besides Blair Springfield (Decatur), Blake Brown (Normal West), and Nick Tindall (O'Fallon).
According to PG site, here are the top potential HS draftees from Illinois (possible in rounds 1-10)

1 Tanner Bushue RHP Sr. R-R 6-4 180 South Central Kinmundy John A. Logan JC 6/20/1991

2 Ian Krol LHP Sr. L-L 6-1 180 Neuqua Valley Naperville Arizona 5/9/1991

3 Jerad Grundy LHP/OF Sr. L-L 6-1 180 Johnsburg Johnsburg Miami 9/11/1990

4 Scott Firth RHP Sr. R-R 6-1 170 Stevenson Lincolnshire Clemson 4/20/1991

NC,
I don't understand what you mean? He still has the leverage of college, what other leverage would there be?
U of Arizona will be waiting with open arms should his stock fall. But, doesn't a player's signability play a huge roll in this? If a guy wants first round money or he's going to college, it seems pretty cut and dried. If this player was going to get drafted in the 3rd round before, I believe that he'll get drafted in the 3rd round now. It just might not be enough to get him to pass up playing at U of A for 3 years.
None of this "draft stuff" is cut and dried. My older kid took 3 or 4 psychological tests with different MLB teams because they wanted to know what was "upstairs." It matters to many teams - to some maybe less. But the bottom line is this is a business & they are not as free with their money as you might think.

Look back and see what they did with Crosby in '07. He played his senior year and he was squeaky clean, 6'5, & a football star. I thought Scarpetta was the best hs pitcher in '07, he had a minor injury and see what happened to him in the draft (round wise & money wise).

It all matters......
Another local kid who has a good shot at being a high draft choice is Jason Kipnis from Arizona State (Glenbrook North 2005).

He is currently batting .376 with 12 HR/58 RBI and is 18-22 in stolen bases. I think that they are trying to pitch around him(40 walks) but he is still putting up some good numbers. He was drafted in the 4th round by the Padres last year but they could not come to terms so he returned to college.
The thing about Ian and his draft stock staying good or going down really depends is all debateable.
If the Major League Club feels that he has moved on and is makeup stays than he will still be drafted as expected whatever that may be. Look back to the first round, 29th pick overall, of last years draft. his name is Lonnie Chisenhall:

A 12th-round Draft pick out of high school in 2006, he chose USC over the Pirates. His Gamecock career ended abruptly after he was arrested on burglary and grand larceny charges. If teams can be convinced he's gotten past it and his makeup is OK, he still has the tool that had everyone interested in the first place: a plus bat.

Its all up to the team's discretion. This guy got drafted in the first round and if you want to weigh what he did as worse that what Ian you can(you break the law you break the law regardless) and he still went high.
What he did was being a teenager, making a bad decision. Not showing he has bad character. If one person on here did not drink a beer or worst in HS, I would be shocked.

His stock will be slightly dinged but not much. Everyone drafted higher than him probably has done the same thing but not caught so put it in perspective.
I don't believe any admission of guilt was requested or required. Being at a party where alcohol is being served (evidenced again by the picture, I presume) is enough to get you the boot. The fact that he appeared to be partaking in the festivities probably sealed his fate and made the suspension longer than it might have otherwise been.

Just hope that no one shot pictures with their cameraphone.
Oh, boy. We're back to that discussion again!

Seriously, holding a red cup (or two) in a picture got someone suspended? Doubtful. Holding a red cup at what is obviously a party with alcohol. More likely.

Why are kids so DUMB? We have had numerous athletes suspended for doing exactly this - posting pictures of themselves and friends at parties where it's obvious alcohol is being consumed. Why? They have to know that there is at least a CHANCE they'll get caught. Just dumb. If you think ADs enjoy doing this kind of stuff, you're wrong. They would prefer to never know what was going on, but when it's there for the world to see, what are they supposed to do?
With the draft only a few days away it should be interesting to see what Illinois high schooler's get drafted come June 9-11. Obviously there are the locks with the likes of Walt Wijas, Jerad Grundy, Ian Krol, Scott Firth, and Blake Brown, just to name a couple. But as of late some new names have popped up. For example, the word out in Huntley is that OF Craig Lipp has a legitimate shot at getting the call next week. Also, I've heard of some other players in the same position. Anybody have anything to say about next week's draft?
RRF8, those players that are listed are just ones who have consistently been on the pro's radar screen and have the most likely and best chance of getting drafted. By no means does that mean that only those 20 HS kids are going to get picked. In fact, I recall last year a lot of names not being on there "tracker" and were not only selected, but selected pretty early.
