Great Post!!! Personally I just do see the merit in promoting your own kid. All you end up doing is turning people off about your son. If someone wants to make a nice comment about your kid thats great. I find it a whole lot more fun and comfortable talking about other peoples kids.
PGStaff,
Great post, AND very funny!

WOW! I tried to read all the way through but I got bored reading about nothing! There are a lot of folks on this web site with way too much time. Post pictures of you kids, it’s great, who cares, secondly why would anyone ask why you would post pictures of your kids, again who cares. That is not a question, so do not answer. I do not care because it is not about baseball, after all this is the high school baseball web site!

To all of the parents out there,
old, young, new, & all of us in between ( ha!), continue to do what you think is right.
Keep an open mind,
be willing to learn,
& be willing to ignore peacefully.
Believe deeply and achieve,
while remembering that a little tolerance for one another
can go a long ways.
Lets stay productive.
The last time I checked, there was still a whole lotta' of baseball going on.
...and I get the feeling that with, or without us,
these kids are going to continue to play.
I for one, want to tag along for the ride.
And, I'd enjoy it even more if you'de pull up a lounge chair next to me,
so we as parents can watch our kids together.

Bragging (probably a better word could be used) about your son is fine, if done correctly and you don't wear people out with it. (IMO) Posting pictures is not bragging or even promoting.
I think most people are more turned off by self promotion. I don't know much about many things, but I'm an expert when it comes to recognizing self promotion. You're all amateurs if comparing to what we see nearly every day. Would gladly trade places if you don’t believe.
Wish I could display to you all, some of the things we hear and see. There are people who would make you walk (or even run if need be) a mile out of your way, just to avoid another discussion about their son. I’m sure everyone has experienced this to some degree. Just not the degree that we experience it. That said, luckily, most people are not like that.
If you find yourself sitting alone a lot and it’s not because you want to be… You might want to have a little talk with yourself. You might be guilty of making those around you SICK! Start bragging about your son’s team mates all the time and you will regain your popularity.
Tip… Do not listen to me, I have received severe brain damage over the past 15 years. I think it's called Parentitus! I'd have gone off the deep end if it weren't for the kids themselves. They're usually great!
First of all, I have always wanted to post pictures of my son, he was about 12 when I started posting. For some reason, I never did. I still want to.
I do remember bragging about son in the beginning. One of the other moms started to communicate with me about our "very good ballplayers". Then I realized mine was 12 and hers was in the D Backs minor league system. That was my wakeup call.
At any rate, PG, I think you should keep notes and when you tire of what you are involved with now, you should write a book about all the crazy parents you have encountered. Some of the ones in our area are downright terrifying!

I loved looking at all of the pictures. It really brought back memories to me, too.... ....It really is amazing how quickly they grow!

To all my friends and fellow posters ... tho mine has played ball like a t-baller since he was drafted, I don't believe this communication was from me. If it had been me, I hope I didn't offend you, sluggo
FutureBack.Mom,
I can answer that question, since I have known you for a long time...
If I did not know that your son played professional ball, from the modest way that you treat the topic in your posts here, I could just as well assume that your son was playing for a local HS or even a 12-year-old team.

Well it was you and you did me a HUGE favor! You were so nice and encouraging when I was being "beat up" by some others, when I discovered what level your son had achieved, I wanted to follow your example. Not to assume that my son would ever reach that same level.
It is all good here and thanks again!

I love looking at them also. Thanks for asking. This is fun. Should I post the 5 yo pictures or ???
Heck, I will just post them all!
But not tonight!
Sorting out photos today, I ran across this picture of my son's 12u team, Juice II, from 1997. Five of these little cuties have played minor league ball. (Four still are; one played for three years.)
There was some kid on Juice I who was pretty good, named Prince Fielder...wonder whatever happened to him
I was wondering if it was okay to post team pictures, so I guess it is?
Just for fun I want to guess which 5 play or played pro:
Top Row: player on far left and the 2 in the middle.
Middle Row: player 2nd from left and player on the right end of the row.
Using my "good face" theory, how did I do?

Brrrppp --- but thanks for playing, sluggo; we have some lovely parting gifts.
You did get one right, the young man who played for three years: top row, 4th from left. Although at the time, we all would have predicted the 3rd from left as well.
Middle row, far left & 4th from left
Front row: 1st & 2nd from left.
Take a look at your own team photos --- baby faces, little arms...who knows what all lies ahead; and there's a whole baseball world waiting for them!

GROUP HUG!
Orlando,
Before reading your post which narrows down the choices, I was trying to pick out Aeden from that group and I guessed middle row, far left, biggest smile. How did I do?

Spot on, Julie
Somehow that smile looked familiar! What a little cutie.

Hey Donna! I spotted him too! I thought: who is that little cutie on the left? I've seen that little boy before -- ohhhhh, add some facial hair and there is my "nephew". Sweet pic.
"Auntie Em"

Those smiles are great and what it ought to be about. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I had a bunch of action shots, but just kept coming back to this one. Well, this one and one of them standing on their heads in the kitchen.
infielddad,
The actual reason that I started this thread was because my son has played with boys whose parents are on this site. He has made friends, as have I, and those players and parents live in different states. I thought it would be nice to see how the boys have grown (my son sure enjoys it). It has NOTHING to do with future expectations of our Pre-HS boys. It was simply to share photos with friends and a way to keep in touch.
I am glad to see so many photos of the youngsters. All great looking ball players! Thank you.
Ross.
