Minivanmom - while you may not get the same feedback from all on this site in regards to PBR, our experience has been good. Taken for what it is, its pretty good. Showcases are well run and have decent attendence. They have a fall league that has very good competition and is also well run. They are not inexpensive but as a showcase in Chicago area, its decent. Not as good Perfect Game event in terms of coaches and recognition but can be a good supplement with other events.

Hope that helps. Search the ILL Forum for other feedback on them. Some good some not as good.
Wow, some harsh criticism of PBR in Illinois. I can't speak for Illinois, but I can tell you that PBR's Ohio Director is a good guy. It's not a "pay to be ranked" site. I know kids who've never been at a PBR event who are in the PBR rankings...and deservedly so. If you're not someone who's on the radar of scouts/colleges, then of course it helps to go to a showcase...whether it's PBR or anyone else....but if you're good enough to be included in the rankings..you'll be there, whether you paid them or not.
Not familiar with the PBR in Illinois, however in MO the PBR top 100 has players ranked that did NOT pay for the showcase. I guess they use tournament or past stats.

I think this adds SOME Legitimacy to the rankings.

However I will add... how do you rank a Pitcher Only vs a positional player? PO get 15-20 pitches to impress. Positional player evaluated on hitting, running, fielding and throwing. Who is better at what they are providing....

A lot will depend on what a coach wants.
