The other top seeds at the Sliders tourney (not listed in previous post):

5. Columbia Angels
6. Houston Heat 15U White
7. Houston Heat 15U Silver
8. Dallas Mustangs 15U Sharp
9. South Texas Sliders 16U
10. Austin Slam 16U Angels
11. FW Cats 16U
12. Baytown Knights 16U
13. Austin Wings 16U Gray
14. Katy Sting 16U Red
15. Austin Slam 16U Braves
16. Sliders 15U Navy

The first five seeds went 3-0.

The Heat 16U Red only gave up one run in three games. Eek
The Columbia Angels scored 30 runs in three games. Had 6 HR's in one game.
I was extremely surprised the Slam 16U Braves (the 16U "A" team) went 1-2.

The single elimination championship bracket will really be a dog fight. Some great ball.

My guess at the favorites:
Heat 16U Red, Slam 16U Braves (assuming they have been holding back pitchers), Columbia Angels.

The Slam 16U Braves got shut-out by the Marshals in their third game. The Slam pitcher looked pretty stout, at least their three or four I would guess. The Marshals made some great defensive plays and the wind was blowing in at like 20 mph.

They play the rematch in about 15 minutes.

The McKinney Marshalls 15 just beat the Austin Slam Braves for the second time.

The Slam lead 5-3 with the Marshalls coming up top bat in the bottom of the sixth with time expired. Two outs and runners on first and second, wild pitch moved runners to second and third, Daniel Jordan stroked a 300 + foot double to tie the score. Another wild pitch brought him to third and an errant throw to third let him him score the winning run.

I wasn't there but I was on the phone for the last at bat and it sounded very exciting.

I am sure the Slam are a good team but they ran into a Marshalls team that is on a role and are refusing to loss.

At 7 pm The Marshalls will face the winner of Heat 15 Silver and the Slam 15 Angels game that is being played now. There are no easy games in this tournament.

And that would be the Austin Slam Angels 16U, not 15U.

Yes, the Slam Braves 16 team.

The Marshalls 15 just won again, this time beating the Houston Heat 15 Silver 3-2.

From what I understand the Heat group of kids need a help in manners and sportamanship.

As things turned-out, the Heat walked in the winning run after walking a batter to load the bases.

The Marshalls kids seem to be learning how to be patient and let the games come to them.

Any other U16 tournaments going on with area team involved?

Good time for a mid-season level set.

Feel free to post your team's record to this point.

Also, people might be interested in your team's "BIG" tournament(s) and their year-end goal.

I'll start:

DBAT 16 -- 21-5-1 (through 6/17) -- headed to 2006 WWBA 17U National Championship in Marietta, GA on 7/3. Year-end goal -- AABC MM World Series in McKinney, Texas.

That game that the A's 16 won was in Houston was against the Marshalls 15 team and it was a gift game.

That said, a friend with a son on one of the two A's 15 yr old team just got back from Omaha, they had a good run but ended up 3-4 on the trip. One of the losses was a 5-4 loss to the MacNSeitz team that is one of the top in the nation.

So far they are 11-5 on the season and they are looking really good against almost all 16's. They have at least 5 good arms and their future looks good.

The Arlington A's do have several 15U and 16U teams. The top teams have been playing well. The top 16U team defeated the Mckinney Marshalls 16U in Houston last weekend.

The A's 18U team is undefeated this summer.
Last summer, if I recall properly, the Texas 15U teams had no problems handling the MacNSeitz 15U team up at the Premier WS. They were not as good as the top Houston Heat, Columbia Angels, Austin Slam, Austin Wings or South Texas Sliders 15U teams.

After what I had always heard about MNS, I was expecting more.

I don't think the best Texas teams take a back seat to anyone in the nation.

After witnessing the Texas teams in action in San Antonio, I agree with Texan!
Well, one has to call it "Premier" or something... it usedf to be "select" but that has been watered down for over 10 years... everyione is select now days... just the talent isn't... it is just Johnny put together a team and wants it to be "select"... everyone is select now.... so you have to seperate. the teams that coaches/scouts want to see (every year) and those they don't some how...
You are correct. But some folks still don't understand that, though, DH.

A 16U daddy-ball team was taken in the Sliders tourney (looks to me like it was just to fill out the field with an even number). Their coach thought they could run with the big dogs. Went 0-5. Good education for the coach, the parents and the players of that team.
Frozen Ropes Blue Sox 16U got two much needed wins today against the Dallas Drillers.

Injuries have decimated our roster this summer. We've had 4 kids that have had to shut it down for the summer. 3 with shoulder surgeries and 1 with a stress fracture in his back. The surgeries are all things that have lingered into the summer from their spring seasons and not anything that the coaches have done to hurt them.

The remaining guys have stuck together and battled and today was nice. We NEEDED to win a couple!

Keep your heads up Blue Sox and keep working.
