The whistler(s) have turned everyone off from Vanderbilt.  And everybody loves an underdog and Michigan would conclude an amazing run of beating both the #1 and #2 seeds in the tourney in best 2 of 3 series.

Seriously, I saw a story today about the Vandy team overcoming the tragic death of their teammate.  And if the stud pitcher wins the game tonight it will all be about him tomorrow.

The stadium rules say he doesn’t have the right to be annoying. If he’s annoying they have the right to toss him out if the park.

And I am about to turn it off even though it’s an awesome 0-0 game. I’d rather deal with a drunk than the whistling a hole.

if I were a Michigan fan if they won the whistler would get the loudest, in your face, no in your ears version of Hail To The Victors anyone has ever seen.

If people can’t stand it on tv I can just imagine how unpleasant it is in the park. He’s more offensive than a drunk Yankee fan.

I got no dog in this hunt, but I have been pulling for Michigan.  I want to see some new blood in college baseball..a la Coastal Carolina, Fresno State, Witchita State.  This brings more people into college baseball.   The Big 10 (in general) has not been a baseball conference juggernaut as have some of the other Power 5 conferences.  Sorry Vandy and SEC fans but I want to see somebody new with a whistler or without a whistler.

Keeping it classy, nice work.

BacDorSlider, I have always respected your insights and your kid's abilities but you pushed the envelope way too far on here.  I have always thought most guys on here may not agree but never fully disrespected each other. That was beyond the lines for this message board.

A cold weather team winning the CWS would be a great story. But up front I figured if the series goes three and the deeper teams go into their pitching staffs favors Vanderbilt.

I spent years tuning out kids and drunks (summer) on planes on a weekly basis. But I can’t tune out the shrill whistle. I didn’t watch after five innings last night. I figure the guy will be obnoxious with nothing to lose in game three.

i wrote to the organization in Omaha that manages the CWS. They’ve expressed they’ve had hundreds of complaints. Consider the 10:1 rule. It’s’s been a job to handle the two whistlers. Apparently some obnoxious Vanderbilt fans have joined in whistling as a protest to quieting down the two guys, So much for classy. It’s another case of money and prestige doesn’t necessarily mean class.

Hopefully in coming years Vanderbilt gets wiped out in regions as often as possible.

It's an unfortunate fact that Yahoos can and do spoil baseball games for others.  It happens all the time in a zillion different ways. I'm sure we could all tell many stories*.  The only thing different about the whistler(s) is that a) you know it's going to happen beforehand, and b) it affects the TV experience as well as the ballpark experience.

*Here's my most recent one -- my brother-in-law is not a baseball fan but kind of thinks he wants to be, so he joined a group of us at a Staten Island Yankees game the other night. Unfortunately he sat next to a guy who was probably 6' 6" 300 lbs and taking  full advantage of an all-you-can eat ticket package.  This was several seats away so I didn't realize how unhappy he was and offer to switch seats for a few innings.  I don't think he'll be at another game soon.

What starts out as a cool story is ran into the ground to the point you start pulling for the other team or turn the sound off. I heard Zion's name so much and saw the camera's trained on him so much I found myself pulling for him to miss every shot. I started liking Michigan and now have gotten to the point I hope Vandy crushes them tonight. Of course by the middle of the game tonight if the Whistlers keep it up I may move back to pulling for Michigan again.

ESPN just doesn't know when to stop. They get on a train and ride it to death. Who is next year's Zion? Who is next's years human interest story? I have gotten to the point I hope someone else is covering an event. Anyone. Anyone but who they call around here.

DESPN. Yes the D stands for Duke.

Next to Game 7 of the MLB World Series, Game 3 of the College World Series is the next best thing!

Both teams have had incredible seasons, and Michigan would truly deserve the title if they beat Vandy and knocked off both the #1 (UCLA) and #2 seeds in best of three showdown games.  Could that be the first and only time that happened?  Certainly teams have won in Omaha by knocking off the top seeds there, but to have to win a Super Regional on the road against #1 and then beat the #2 in the final would be pretty special.

Am I the only person who was thinking that Rocker would be the #1 pick of the 2020 draft? There's only one way that I can think of that would make him eligible.

Most likely top 10, if not 1. That is a tough business decision to make but if he walked away from that money is HS it is going to be hard to convince him to leave Vandy a year in. At the same time, a torn UCL in Dec/Jan at a JUCO and he is now gone from Vandy, off the draft board, and in a very tough position regarding talent, eligibility and health.

Well that game wasn't even close...some might say "easy like a Sunday morning".  I was hoping for something a little more exciting.   It seemed like Vandy took advantage of every Michigan mistake especially walks..walks killed Michigan.   Vandy was "mighty mighty letting it all hang out", and the better team yesterday.  The Commodores are your 2019 NCAA Baseball Champions!

He can't be drafted in 2020.  He will be 2021 but only if he gets his degree by then according to his mother.  He would have been top 5 out of high school but mom put it out there he was going to Vandy.  I understand the degree thing but when you are turning down 8-10 million that degree is not that relevant.  He will have time to finish it.  This is the case that you hope there are no injuries in the next two years for him.  It could be a 8 million dollar mistake.

That is an excellent point. His arm carried them to a national championship.  You can't go much higher than that.   I hope his coaches and parents are thinking about protecting him for the next couple of years. No more 131 pitch complete games, please, unless he wants to meet Dr. Andrews. They have plenty of good arms.  No reason for him to pitch in the fall or start non conference games in the spring. Heck, put him in as DH.  I bet he can hit.

It's bad enough that the Whistler can be a douchebag in their own stadium, but when he's essentially told to knock it off at the CWS and countinues to do it, I feel like he should have been booted.  If someone stood up in the middle of the game and started taking a leak on the people next to them they would get booted.  If someone insisted on calling the woman in front of him fat for 3 straight innings, he would get booted.  If he poured beer on the head of the guy in front of him booted.  The thing with those 3 is he's only offending the people directly around  him....and he would still get booted.  This clown is bothering the entire stadium (at least everyone who's not a Vandy fan) and a national TV audience.  Shut him up or kick him out

The Whistler had a lawyer challenging the NCAA, ESPN and CWSOmaha go ahead and throw my client out if the stadium and see what happens. It was probably a no name ambulance chaser looking to make a name for himself. He approached the Whistler and volunteered his services free of charge.
