Frank - that is very emotional reading at any level. For whatever reason, I get emotional when players acknowledge it may be their last chance at the game they love. Obviously, I hope it goes well no matter what Josh decides to do but it would be cool to see his baseball career continue Smile

I am glad to hear that a movie is not out of the question...
It is always so special to see a player do well in the game we love so much. However, to see a young man touch so many lives and especially the lives of senior citizens is beyond moving. All his HSBBW family would should be watching a movie made about this experience! Blessings to Josh and Allison for their future!!!

Also congrats to Josh for getting the win in game 4 out of the pen.

Thanks. Glad you didn't mention his outing in game 5. Eek Stings a little, but he's already laughing about probably his last pitch as a professional going for a dinger. It did ease the sting when they won it all.

Now to find a "real" job. Thoughts and prayers still appreciated.

Frank
For those who are interested, unless something comes up, the segment about Josh on ESPN E:60 is due to air next Tuesday (10/27). Check your local listings for times. Big Grin

As an update, no "real" job for Josh as of yet. Gotten the ole "no experience" replies so far. Still has some irons in the fire. Currently substitute teaching until something better comes along.

Prayers and well wishes still appreciated.
Will be watching, Tivo'ing (for my son, who will be at workouts) and have told several friends and family members about what a wonderful, inspiring story this is. Congrats on a great kid, Frank.
I can only hope that when I'm 80 there will be a youthful presence to keep me young at heart, like Josh has those lucky seniors.
Frank, I've been following this thread since day one and I have been hesitant to post. I realize as a player's dad, the ride will end at some point. Sooner for some, later for others. Either way it is difficult to face facts, we all want to pretend it will never happen to our son. Thank You for helping me to underestand how to act when that day comes!

I've got the DVR already set for Tuesday! Peace.... GED10DaD
Why is it that so many HSBBW parents have kids who are such special people?

What an amazing young man. FrankF - Your son reveals an awful lot about the kind of people you and your wife are. Your son has a rare quality - warmth and humanity. The best part is that I am sure he considers himself to be the one who was enriched by the experience.
Thanks all. Josh did nothing to initially end up there, but I personally believe nothing that happens in life is coincidental. I do know that while Josh was a blessing to the residents it also enriched his life.

As a side, Allison didn't want to answer our phone call to her last night since they didn't exactly show her best side. She really is a cutie who truly loves (and hurts) for Josh. She is no longer a flight attendant. She teaches 7th grade History and said that she is going to have some explaining to do, lol.

While the story was real, Josh was a little downtrodden that it made him look like he stunk up the joint on the field as the only two pitches they showed were him giving up dingers. He actually pitched very well out of the bullpen with an ERA in the 2's and even getting the win in game 4 of the championship series. His manager texted him that he didn't know that Josh had retired. I think he would be more than happy to have him back.

Oh well, maybe someone will feel sorry for him and offer him a job.

Thanks again for all the kind words. I'm sure that if it were sons of HSBBWers the story would be the same.

Absolutely agree. One of my favorite books is a small read call "Winks from God". It's so easy to see God's touch in our lives when we take time.... and especially in hindsight when we realize the gifts/lessons we received from some "co-incident".

My best to Josh and Allison!! Smile
