Josh Keim 5"9/145 lbs. P/SS Rock Island, Illinois
I have seen him play a few times, he was the sophomore ace for Rock Island High School and pitched/played around ten games for varsity. He throws a 78-79 mph fastball and his offspeed (changeup/curveball) really kept the batters offbalanced. He has a great glove at shortstop and can hit well to all fields. Look for him to be a top thrower and infielder for this upcoming and good young Rock Island Rocks team.
Ynabon Cabrera-Loos - OF - Whitney Young
John Schreiber - 1B - Whitney Young
Going to be Juniors pretty soon though. Both can hit the ball hard. Cabrera-Loos has a cannon arm from the outfield and Schreiber is a great defensive first basemen.

A few from our conference (Big Northern East)
Ryan Burke - Hampshire - ERA under 2.00 last year
Austin Jarvis - Burlington Central - under 2.0 to second, 6hrs as a soph
Zack Romando - SS - Burlington Central - .350 as a soph, solid defensively
Chase Blazier - Harvard - I'm not sure of his numbers, but he shut us down twice this year, probably in the low 80s
There are a handful of others who stood out in our conference this year as sophomores.

Actually Sox, Muck throws four pitches for strikes, including one of the nasty cut fastballs these eyes have witnessed.
I'll play the family card and throw in my nephew, Brock Stewart, SS at Normal West. Has a nice arm.
St.Joes has a catcher by the name of Joe Battaglia.
Varsity starter since freshman year. All- Conference soph year.
Hits well. and solid D.
Anyone seen him?

We should change the name of this thread to "Top 2010s" now that these sophomores are juniors, right?
Great point Papi, anyone know how to change the name?

I've done this now. Enjoy the thread!
Thank you for doing that.
A few more '10s for the list:
Donny Duschinsky (Elk Grove)
Jack Rogalla (OPRF)
Nikko Andriotis (Maine East)

Eric Jagielo (Downers Grove North)
Robbie McDonnell (Barrington High School)
Kevin Koziol ( I think he plays for Brother Rice) Also plays for TT in the summer.
Reid Roper from SS/P Harrisburg. Topping 88-89 off the mound. Lefty stick with power. High D1 kid. Being recruited by everybody.
Sounds like he'd be a good one. Isn't it illegal for colleges to contact 2010 kids? What exactly can they say that lets them know their interested in the player.
They can make unofficial visits to their campuses and have other froms of contact. I guess I should have said will be recruited by everybody.

Harrisburg continues to be a hotbed of talent. Thanks for the news from Southern Illinois! Hey, because I've hung up the cleats for a year or two, you don't have to be a stranger! If you're ever in my area, let me know and I'll buy you a diet coke!
Miles Quintal (RHP) O'Fallon Township
10-2 Soph Season
Had a good soph year, pithcing in a very competetive league. Great command of all 3 of his pitches, not a high velocity guy at this point but pitches at 80-82. His breaking pitch is outstanding and he is confident with his cu behind in the count. With some increased size and strength he could emerge as a d1 kid.

Chris Waylock from Cary Grove. Excellent shortstop, great bat, strong arm, and very quick around the bases. The kid does it all.
Ethan Blumenthal, Jones College Prep. Norwood Blues. Best centerfielder you will see. Hi BB IQ.

What school is missing out on his talent?

that would be lake zurich!! a wonderful story, depends on who tells it
According to the PBR website Jackson now attends Wauconda High School and plans to play this spring.
Blumenthal is very good. I have seen him this fall (in the summer Pildes played him sparingly). He has played every inning of every game this fall and has gotten to every ball you'd expect, and some you wouldn't expect. Excellent speed, he seems to always make the first move correctly off the bat.
He switch hits and has been moving up in the batting order. Just needs a little meat on the bones, but he is just growing in to his body.

Congrats to Maine South and Ronnie Muck for winning the 8A football championship tonight!
So if I am reading this correct. An actual baseball student athlete from Wauconda has obtained a real college scholarship to play baseball at Arizona State. Is this really accurate printed information?

I will second that! Not big, but not much he can't do on a baseball field. This fall he became the first underclassmen to ever be named the MVP of the WWBA Jupiter Championship.
Koziol is real talented too.
PGStaff, do you know the reason why he did not play hs ball? Also, in addition to grad year on the PG Cross Checker Reports, actual birth dates should be listed.
Jacksons father was a former asst. at LZ with the current coach. A falling out happened years ago. Jeff spent two years at LZ without playing for them. Jeff tried out frosh year, made the frosh team, was moved up to soph before season, but father made him quit before season because he wasn't moved up to varsity as a frosh. At that time, the varsity catcher was a senior all conf and team captain. No one was going to unseat him. This year he transferred to Wauconda.
It was obvious that the problems between the adults were the cause, and had nothing to do with the player. The situation has plenty of blame to throw around to include everyone, parents, coaches, AD's. In the end, the kid paid the price, it's a shame.

You aren't kidding. Hopefully the kid will have a very successful collegiate career to make up for those missed memories.

RRF8,
The link above goes to a file on the normal PG site... www.perfectgame.org The player profiles there are free for anyone to view.
www.pgcrosschecker.com will have birth dates and much more information. While pgcrosschecker has lots of material to view at no charge, it is a subscription based scouting site.
I really don't know everything involved as to why he didn't play HS baseball. We have been following him for several years. At one point I know there was an injury involved. He has a lot of talent.
I would not recommend others to take the same path. But, in his case it looks like things might work out very well. Arizona State doesn't make many recruiting mistakes.
Thanks for the info PGStaff.
As has been discussed on this website many times, sometimes an athlete is portrayed as a phenom for his class, only to find out he is truly the age of the class ahead of him. Knowing the chronological age ensures that you are truly comparing apples to apples.

Mike Foltynewicz of Minooka is one of the top pitchers in the state. He is at 6'5" and is now throwing the ball 93 mph. Watch for Mike to be one of states leaders on the mound
correct me if im wrong, but i think i saw him throw at the black and silver this fall at triton, if so he was pretty darn good then.
Hi tisting--I am curious about Jeff Jackson's story! That is great news, did he just sit out, develop a baseball interest and was a good athlete or was it political nonsense? I am very happy for this young man.
coach b is really an old woman life companion of Julie and really ugly
