My digital 8 camcorder bit the dust last night. With my old equipment I used to capture my video from the camcorder on my computer with Pinnacle 7 Video capture software and view the captured clips on Quicktime. This process worked relatively well but was time consuming and cumbersome.

I still like viewing clips with Quicktime but would like to eliminate or simplify the capture process. Any suggestions, regarding camcorders models and viewing/capturing video.

Some may tell you the mini DVD format are the way to go, but the problem is that they are a bugger to edit, unless you have the right program. If you stick with Sony, I'd get the $89 Sony Vegas video Program, and you can convert to most other formats from that.
(I'd tell you to get another D-8, but I think Sony stopped making them).

Videohelp.com is a great web site and perhaps someone in their forums might offer you some more advice.
