What a great game between Christchurch and Cape Henry for the Division II state championship. Cape Henry - my hat's off to your team as your players fought to the last out! With two outs, runners on first and third, and Christchurch up 4-3 the number 5 hitter for Cape Henry hits a fly ball into right field. If the ball is caught Christchurch is the champion, if not the championship goes to Cape Henry. Cape Henry won 5-4 and what a gutsy pitching performance by Jake Wynkoop. Reports had him pitching 150 pitches on the Saturday before, another 30-40 on Thursday, and who knows how many in the final. He just kept pitching despite falling behind 4-1 early in the game. Well done young man! Christchurch seniors Michael Taylor, David Phillips, and Travis Myers led the Seahorses to two straight Division II championships only to be defeated both times. Well done boys!
