I vote for knoxville, including in the program a deserved reconigtion to Bob.
Convention= Las Vegas
Knoxville makes a great deal of sense, particularly because Bob could have us all over to dinner .
However, Knoxville in January? (The early time-of-year leader)
...and Knoxville could eliminate most all of our West Coast friends (the same way Las Vegas could do with East Coast members). I take it this is why St. Louis was included, as a central alternative.
Of course, it's always fine weather in Orlando (she says as the hurricane crosses the penninsula )

I vote for Dallas because it is centrally located...and because it is ALSO where I am from!! seriously tho...I for one think "a convention" would be a great idea and I would do my utmost best to attend...
I like the idea of Knoxville, but would be willing to help KD on this if it is held in Dallas.
My favorite place is Vegas but then I probably wouldn't be around the convention much tho that could be a good thng for some HSBBWebsters, I am sure
Knoxville makes sense since that is where it started, and Dallas would be fine as well ... liked the town the one time I passed thru.
Just let us know when and where so we can get some good airfares ...

FBM,
It it were in Vegas...I don't think there would be enough "Wheel of Fortune" slot machines for ALL of us!

I voted for St. Louis because I like to travel.
bump
I agree that Vegas would be the most economical for everyone to travel to and have a good time. Unfortunately for me, it would only be economical if a) my wife did not attend or b) all of the Wheel of Fortune machines were somehow malfunctioning during the time we were there Seriously, Vegas would be a great pick.
Just in case anyone is wondering ...... I have been reading these threads.
I offer this promise. Select a location, pick a date and I will be there.
My only suggestion would be for the "off-season" whenever that is!
Note: While Knoxville would be nice for me, it is not the most economical place to fly into and out of.

I nominate HiwasseeVol as the Nocksvillian Coordinator for this event...
I just spoke to Bubba and he has agreed to provide recuitin' type speakers for a seminar after the BBQ dinner sponsored by a furniture company in Nocksville..
I suggest that no shine or guns be allowed at the event... collard greens and grits are okay, but shine and guns don't mix in Nocksville..

If Vegas suggested dates..
Weekend February 24-26 UNLV vs. LSU
Weekend March 3-5 UNLV vs. Texas
Weekend May 5-7 UNLV vs. AZ
Stadium is blocks from the strip and there will still be plenty of time for "other" activities...

Do you all plan on incorporating us players into the mix? Or is it a parents only affair? I can't make any date because of my location but I feel that should be answered.
Players, parents, coaches, managers, agents, vendors.......everybody that loves baseball.
So even that fat guy named Lou in the first row as my dad would say? Sounds great. Hope you guys and gals have a party of a time. Oh and take some good pics for the non attending members.
New York City, The greatest city in the World!! Otherwise I can't go.
Orlando Fl
Great idea! I vote Vegas, because it's the cheapest place to fly in/out of from most places.
I vote Knoxville cus I can drive there!
I think we should be honest.
Vegas, cus hubby would love to go again... last time we were there we were 19... and got thrown out. How were we to know you had to be 21 to gamble? 69 Dodge Van cross country, 3 months.
Could we? doubt it, but I could drive to knoxville

I guess NOLA is out.
It's a big country, and we might have a bigger overall turnout with an Eastern half and a Western half venue. Photos (particularly compromising ones ) to be shared liberally.
I say Vegas because "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". Do they say the same thing about Knoxville?
No, because nothing actually happens in Knoxville.
Sorry, Bob, you know I can resist anything but temptation.

Orlando...
Las Vegas!!!!!
For the first time out, HSBW should pick a convention location that is close to as many of the active posters/readers. This will make building a "crowd" for a first time event easier.
According to the State Forum, it looks like in sheer volume, Illinois or Texas receive the most action. Then you want to look at places that are easy to get to, like Chicago or Dallas.
Once this convention is established and has a following, then you can then roll it around to places like Las Vegas or Knoxville.

How about Jupiter during the WWBA World Wood Bat Tournament ?
Good choice TRHit.
Great idea TR. Anyone going to Jupiter let us know, it is a good place for many to meet.
Since the other part of this conversation is back on top, thought I'd bump this one up to. Looks like Knoxville and Vegas are the winners so far out of these choices.
Cherry Hill, NJ.

Looks like we have to have a HSBBWEB West convention, a HSBBWEB midwest convention and a HSBBWEB east convention.
Posted a similar item to that of Bear's on another thread--- could well be thet BEAR and I am on the same page for once--LOL
doesn't BUBBA have a facility he could make avaliable for our use??
Due to some responses, kind of looks that way to me as well.
Just some thoughts for consideration...
If this is truly going to happen, I think someone (or a smaller group of people) will have to step up to the plate to head an organizing committee that can oversee this from beginning to end.....along with alot of help from us websters. It seems pretty obvious that there is a definite interest from the three different threads floating around here, and the mix of interested websters seems to be from all over the country. I'll be the first to admit....I have no desire to be the head honcho here....I do NOT have the organizational skills for that job. If left to me, we'd probably all be drinking some wine on my back patio! (PAmom....I know YOU would be there! ) I am more a player than I am a coach. I think it was Bear who said "Organize it...and they will come". I think that is a pretty good assessment of the situation. In my opinion, anyone who volunteers to be the head-honcho and take on this responsibility, should have a dominant role in picking where and when this get-together will take place. I think we've all given some interesting options that can be considered. It really wouldn't be very fair for all of us to decide where this will occur and then hand it over to someone else to organize (unless that is how the organizer would like for it to be handled). Once a place and date is chosen....then the rest of us can give a more accurate assessment as to who will be able to attend.
Anyone (or group of people) willing to be the head coach here from beginning to end? By the way...it will be waaay too cold here in Pennsylvania to drink wine on my back porch in January!
