I cal it being sensitive and compassionate.

Your "boy" never shed a tear?
Or you never did for your kids?
Perhaps you never had the chance to understand what such a very big game means to players, when they lose or win.
That's what I think this is all about, and that's my opinion.

I disagree---if he were not wearing the eye black with the biblical notes there would be no media attention---he and his "people" know how to market him and have done a great job---the look on his parents faces at games end had the look of someone watching millions of dollars evaporating right before their eyes

What did I misunderstand in this post?

BOF, sorry I just hate it when someone claims to do so much for players then would make a statement like that. It makes no sense to me, no matter if you were in marketing or what you had for dinner two days in a row. Wink

TR,
Who has a superior mind and attitude? I certainly can't read people's thoughts by a 10 second spot of the expresses on their faces.

That, and some have ignorance to go along with it!

Bad double combination.

I have been wrong here and have apologized.
I don't like being accused of having a holier than though attitude, by the same person who thinks that he is better than anyone else here and can make such statments then goes after people for their statments and demands answers to his questions.
I wasn't the only one who took exception to some comments made about a (non professional) player and his family. That's not right.

Funny thing, though we have been told we have no clue about someone you do learn alot about people after reading their posts for 5-6 years.
If taking the current BCS system and applied it to basketball and baseball these teams would not have been there

Basketball

Memphis - runner up
Utah - runner up

Baseball

Rice - champ
Cal State Fullerton - champ

Yes it is a tired argument and that's what makes it even more appaling. The people, the majority of schools and the government want a playoff but yet....still can't get one. There is a problem here.
After reading some message boards about the bowl games I can't help but laugh. We joke about being farm boys, but it's always interesting to be reminded what the perception is out there.

Anyway, thought I would add this.

Me n Ma can't wait to go south to watch our Hawkeyes play that technic school from Atlanta. I'm having the old John Deere tuned up for that long trip way down south. They are going to love us at that beach! All 50,000 of us. Heck if they had a playoff, maybe we could all head out to California or somewhere else next week. Shoot, we can't do anymore plowing around here now anyhow with all this snow everywhere. I think that global warming thing must be going on somewhere else.

Boise vs TCU... BCS deserves a spanking! What does that prove?

What a gig. Unrealistic expectations to turn it around and the QB is leaving town. Maybe next year will finally be the year Notre Dame isn't in the preseason Top Twenty.
Tebow has been a great college quarterback, 2 National Championship rings (AKA SEC Championship), a Heisman trophy and pretty good win loss record.
Will he make it in Pro-football, who knows.
We all know that there are late round draft picks that are projected to never make it and they contribute to their team, , there are 1rst round draft picks, that never contribute
But I do remember a tall slow center that played for Indiana State one year, people questioned whether he had the quickness or the defensive skill to play pro basketball, he did pretty good.

It is a place in the West where football teams from the Midwest come to get the snot kicked out of them, usually by a team with Maroon/Gold colors.(thankfully won't happen this year, at least the color part)

People can't figure out why even after week of visiting Disneyland, Hollywood, the beach, movie studios, late night talk shows, generally having a great time, and oh yeah and staying up all night the night before and being in a parade. Their fans have a GREAT time contrary to what RJM says...until at least the game starts.

(those Black and Gold guys almost made it this year .... nice season)

Oh yea! That Pasadena! Smile

Actually that team in Maroon/Gold has never beat us in the Rose Bowl but they kicked the snot out of us in Miami (2003) in the Orange Bowl.

UCLA kicked the snot out of Iowa in the Rose Bowl.
The team in Maroon/Gold? UCLA?

Kicked the snot out of Iowa? That would be a very long list of teams.

UCLA did beat Iowa 45-28 in 1986. I thought their colors were Blue and Gold. They were very good back in those days.

For a while before Hayden Fry showed up, Iowa might have been the nation's worst football program. In the 60s and 70s we got the snot kicked out of us almost weekly. 19 consecutive losing seasons including a year of 0-11.
Posted from a CollegeBaseballToday.com interview with TCU Head Baseball Coach Jim Schlossnagle:

quote:
SIDE NOTE:

Before we got to talking about his baseball team, coach Schlossnagle told me about being in the Frog Dome with all the fans and the band and the football team for the “live” shots during the BCS announcement show on Sunday night. Funny thing is, he told me that even though it looked live at the time of the show, most of it was actually pre-recorded about a half-hour before the show.

So the team is there, coach Gary Patterson is there, the Fox camera crew is there and Fox reporter Charissa Thompson is there. According to coach Schlossnagle, the producers were there pumping their fists and getting the crowd jazzed with applause signs and all. He said they didn’t know which bowl game they were going to play in at the beginning of the taping and even when it did go live, Thompson only told the fans gathered there that they were going to the Fiesta Bowl and not who they would play.

Coach Patterson was finally told it would be against Boise State right before Thompson stuck a mic in his face.

It was when people started filing out of Daniel-Meyer Coliseum that the fans realized it was a rematch with Boise State that their Frogs got and not the chance to play a team like Florida. The crowd walked away disappointed. No chance to prove themselves against the snobby big-money players in the good ole boys network.

I really can't believe the Cincy coach leaving before the bowl game (and undefeated season if W)
for ND (and his dream job......and five year contract.....and now selling tradition.........
turn the page....Not many under 35 y/o remember, no care, about a RC tradition 21 yrs ago.
They are POed and they are very very angry. To say they will be playing with a chip on their shoulder would be a huge understatement. And I believe they have every right to feel that way. One would think the only reason they are any good is BK. They may not win but I would be willing to bet UF will get their absolute best shot. They will play very hard. And I hope they do win.
