MHS was expected to be district champs this season and they were. Also, it should tell you something when Coach Milam left North. He didn't think the talent was going to be good enough to win 3 more district championships.??

First of all, You are crazy if you think last years North team was not supposed to make the playoffs. Lackie, Nico, Yates...come on.

Second, MHS under achieved last year, no doubt. Is that coach Prices fault? I don't know, I watched every game, never left one of them thinking the coach lost the game. I saw a very strong senior class just play ok. In their defense, the team that knocked us out went a long way, including beating a #1 Poteet. Forney got hot at the right time.

Now, if you say last years MHS team was senior laden, with all that talent, how can you say the rebuilding MHS of this year was district favorites. North had far more returning starters than MHS.

OK, my opinion on Milam, simple...no field maintenance at Boyd. Plain and simple, we figured it one day, he gets to spend an extra 10 to 12 hours a week at home due to the turf. Sounds silly, but it is true.
Robert - I didn't say I thought they wouldn't make the playoffs. Many of the district coaches had them 3rd - 5th. Also, you know as well as I do that BASEBALL is all about pitching!! Last years pitchers for MHS were Baker, Lee, Moore and Lipka. North had Lackie and 2 unproven pitchers who had NEVER pitched on the varsity. This year Lee and Lipka and Co. for MHS, Ladd and Scharf for North and that is it. All of North's players weigh less than 170. Not exactly an imposing line-up.

So you're saying that if he had talent that was as good as the other teams talent, he would win more games.

I don't think he has had as much success as he thought he would. District records - 09 3and 8, 08 6 and 8, 07 7 and 7 1st round playoff loss. Verdict still out as the job has a chance to be really good. Tough district every year and will always have outside problems."

So with his winning percentage decreasing in each of his seasons... has he gotten better or worse at his job? Has he not been able to develop talent? Has not had talent to work with? Has been handcuffed by the booster club?

That was McKinney Lion instead of LionPop. Wink

I don't like the subject of talking about coaches.(At least not talking bad)

I love the coach my son plays for and am not qualified to make any other comment, from MY point of view ALL the 9-4a coaches are good coaches.

If I were voting for coach of the year in this district and can NOT vote for my sons coach. I would vote for the Wakeland coach. I love watching them play, they are young, they hustle, take their cuts and don't get cheated at the plate, play hard when they are ahead and just as hard when they are behind. These are qualities that I notice about a team that I am not personally involved with daily/weekly. Good coaching is the only way you will see these qualities through the entire team. (This is what I see and I understand someone else might see it differently)

For the record, I would vote for coach Price!

I have verified twice with coach Price, he says if North beats Wakeland, Centennial is in and North Plays Wakeland, I texted him yesterday to make sure I was not incorrect. He said Centennial is in if North beats Wakeland. FYI

Centennial is NOT automatically in. There is no true head to head winner. North and Centennial split. Centennial beat Wakeleand twice. If north beats Wakeland, they split. There will be a coin flip between the 3, got my info from the North coaches, twice as well. The winner of the flip is in and waits for the other 2 to play. Then plays the winner of the elimination game. With the swine ****, the only thing that may change is there may be a whole lot of flipping going on. Let's hope not. FYI
I think ole Joe Morgan from Bonham , Tx. is correct. Centennial will wait for North and Wakeland to play. If North wins, they play for seeding. If Wakeland beats North in the play-in game, Centennial would be the 3 seed due to the head to head advantage. All assuming North wins the 1st game whenever that will be now. If Wakeland beats North in that 1st game, it's all moot. Wakeland-3rd, Centennial-4th
Ok, ok..I stand corrected(tucking tail between legs).Joe and El Jeff are correct. (God that hurts to admit I'm wrong- ok , got that over with). But let's throw a wrinkle in this. Can't believe I'm going to agree with 1 of Robert's(gulp!) earlier posts, but I also think we can't go through the whole season and not have Frisco, Denison, or the likes pull off an upset. Frisco beating Centennial is not out of the question. Denison nearly did last Fri. as well as Frisco nearly beating North. If the Raccoons defeat Centennial(anything can go in those crosstown games), it throws a whole new wrinkle into this that we haven't been talking about. Lots of scenarios if that happens.
By my calculations, there are 2,432 possible scenarios for playoffs/play-ins for district 9-4A. I'm just going to sit back and wait. A lot easier.

For my .02 and what it's worth........all of these coaches have their good points, as well maybe their not so good points. Sound like anyone you know?

I'm going to enjoy a break in scheduling umps (after our meeting tonight) and head out Saturday a.m. for Abilene for the Lonestar Conference Tournament. GO ANGELO!!!!!

Ex-'Dog Lackie Strikes Out Career-Best 7

Former McKinney North baseball standout Matt Lackie struck out a career-high seven batters Tuesday as Louisiana-Lafayette defeated McNeese State 4-1.

Lackie, a freshman right-hander, got the win to improve to 2-1 after scattering five hits in 5.2 innings of one-run ball. He also walked four.

Lackie's strong performance allowed the Cajuns to move to .500 for the sixth time this season and win their seventh straight over McNeese.

UL coach Tony Robichaux told The (Lafayette) Advertiser that Lackie did a good job of mixing his pitches, locating his fastball and getting his curve ball and change-up over the plate.

"I try to get ahead in the count a lot, and I thought I did that pretty good early on," Lackie told the newspaper. "In about the fifth inning, I hit the wall. But I felt good when I got out of that."

Lackie's performance came in front of the largest home crowd of the year for UL -- 2,885 at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Way to go Matt Lackie
