DBAT 17's vs Mustangs in the finals. Mustangs have to double 'em up. First pitch at 10 at TCU.

My hat's off to the DBAT 17's. Their kids played with more heart and guts than ours did today and they beat the snot out of us. Pat and Shad have done a great job with that team all summer. I am dissapointed for the DBAT family and Cade and Kyle that we couldn't play any better than we showed today in either game. Those guys deserve more. The 17's and Mustangs just flat out played us. Fortunately we have the DBAT 17's and 16's to pick up our slack.

I'll be in the stands wearing my DBAT hat tomorrow. My 17's hat that is.

Wow, this message board will be quiet for a few days....

It's over -- Tigers, DBAT 18 eliminated tonight in CM Regional!

I rarely post here but lurk daily and quite frankly, I'm glad it's gonna be quiet for a few days. I need a break. My school season starts in a couple of weeks and I need to recharge the batteries.

Go DBAT !!! Get to Farmington and McKinney.
First off, those were two great games tonight. Congrats to all the Keller Kids, Hunter Nolen and the rest of the Mustangs group. Didn't make it in time to see Sam tossed from the game though. But they put on a show against Boelsinger.

Secondly, Matt Shelton showed a bunch of people he's the real deal tonight, something those of us who have watched him pitch have known all along. As a poster on this board asked me about one of Matt's teammates, Jacob House, his words were, Who is this kid?

Matt and Jacob are two dirtbags that just get the job done. They play hard, don't garner a whole lot of media attention or attention on this board, but can flat out play. They will both play D1 at a very high level with big time scholarships.

Matt had DBat on the ropes until he started running out of gas and they pulled him...the Tigers bullpen appeared they were taking Pitching lessons from the Rangers.

There are a lot of quality kids on that Tigers team, and I take my hat off to them. They had a great summer. Too bad they were represented here by a Train Wreck.

DBat 17's never gave up. Kermit and I were talking in the stands and I asked him "What do you think?", he responded, just give us time, we'll get ours. He was correct. When their bats unloaded, they came in buckets.

Should be a great matchup tomorrow. Rumor has it it will be Reid vs. Foster tomorrow in the first game. Know a lot of kids on both teams, and I will be rooting for them.
We all knew this 18U regional would include several epic battles. The teams from out-of-town added great competition to a group that was already stout! The Mustangs, Tigers, DBAT, Marshals all have numerous great games throughout the summer. The guest players always add a degree of intrigue. Smile All of these organizations are well-respected throughout the nation --- it's a pleasure, as a fan, to have them here.

Congratulations to Cade, John, Kermit, and Kirk in the DBAT group -- you all should be very proud. Corey, Chris, Pat, Shad, Curt, Darren, Ted -- it's an honor to be associated with teams under your leadership.

Congratulations to Sam, Jack, and others with the Mustangs. To lose in the first round and battle back to the final day is a reflection of your team's heart. You've "been there" and continue to show why your organization is included in the list of top select programs in the country. Your young teams are doing you proud as well (Shout out to Collin Jones!).

Congratulations to Tommy, Linty, and Gary --- you have assembled an amazing group and have done a great job of dealing with the target on your backs this year (because of last year's success). Despite the shenanagans that occur here from time to time, your team is held in high regard. And your leaders held up under pressure from several directions.

Congratulations to the Marshals, Patriots, FW Cats, and several other organizations that represented DFW this year ---- Georgia? Florida? California? It can't get much better than Texas! Smile

PD ~ exceptional post, well thought out, and sincere to all.
Congrats DBAT 17-

As I observed the tournament all week, it was appearant early that the DBAT 17 is a special bunch.

Today was the icing on the cake. DBAT 17 lost the first one to a brilliant pitching performance by Mustang pitcher.

The second game was a good one as well. Nick Fleece hit a 2 run homerun in the first and the DBAT sqaud added a few more to beat the Mustangs 5-4.

Congratulations to-

1. DBAT 17U players. You boys truely played hard every out and deserved to win. You have done so for several years now and have proven yourselves as a great team.

2. Pat and Shad- Great coaching effort. Your kids represented themselves, you as coaches, and the DBAT organization well.

3. Cade Griffis- For your contributions to amatuer baseball. I am so happy for you and your organization.

4. Kyle Griffis- as you do so much work behind the scenes that only a few realize.

5. DBAT 17 Parents- You should be proud. Please try to make plans to attend Farmington. It will be the best baseball experience for your son and your family ever.

Again, congrats to all. You deserve it.

and................

GOOD LUCK IN FARMINGTON!

For those in attendance today, you saw something very special in a perfect game thrown by Chase Reid. What an awesome performance .

As you would expect from these two teams, the second game was a tough, hard fought, intense contest won 5-4 by an outstanding DBAT club.

With that said, congrats to DBAT 17! You're an exceptional team and you have a wonderful opportunity ahead of you. Go bring home the trophy for Texas! Well done.

For the Mustangs players, parents, coaches and especially Sam Carpenter, thanks for an awesome summer and a great Regional tournament run. Thinking of where we were after Wednesday's first game loss, to get to the final game today is a pretty special accomplishment. You have a ton to be proud of.

I look forward to following the 07s next year during high school season and into the summer. When you think of the returning 07s for the Mustangs, DBAT and Tigers, next summer should again provide some tough competition and great baseball. No doubt, it will be a blast and fun to watch.

Finally, a special thanks to Sam Carpenter. He's taken a lot of unfair criticism (or can I say junk?) from some on this board but I can tell you the Medlins have NEVER played for a classier, finer gentleman than Sam. And his assistant coaches, Jay Johnson, Jack Giese, and Scott Prewitt are the absolute best. It's been Brett's honor to wear the Mustangs hat these last 3 summers. Hard to believe it's over.

Oh well, the next chapter is about to begin. Should be fun. See some of you down the road.

frogdog,

Classy post as usual...you never jumped into the mud with some of the critical posters even though I am sure it was tempting to do so. Because of quality folks like you, we are proud to be a part of the Mustang family, also.

Congrats to Brett on a terrific HS career and we are looking forward to watching him in the purple.
Congrats to DBAT 17's. If you read my prior posts I said it was us or them. They just had "the edge" at this tournament.

I wish I would have seen the perfect game today but both games sounded exciting.

Good Luck in Farmington DBAT 17's and represent us well.

PD..all the butt kissing above are you worried about next year already Big Grin

Great Post, Froggie! The Mustang's are fortunate to have the loyalty and integrity that your family brings to the organization.

Good luck to ALL the Mustang 18's and their futures both on and off the field!
Congratulations to both DBAT 17 and DBAT 16 for reaching the pinnacle!!!

Was sitting with PantherDad at Jesuit for the end of the DBAT 16 win while burning up the phone getting play-by-play on the DBAT 17 win. Funny how both games ended at almost the exact same moment.

Great day for DBAT and a deservedly proud one for Cade and Kyle Griffis. Go DBAT!!!
I sat there today and watched one of the best pitching performances I have seen by a high school player. I have never seen a perfect game and Chase did a great job keeping our batters off balance. After the wednesday game, I made the comment to our players what a great move by Jack getting Chase out of the game to have him for today. I met the young man after the game and wanted to shake his hand. What a great job.

Congratulations to DBAT 17 - they picked the right time to play their best baseball.

DBAT 17 winning this thing is a credit to the kids and the coaches. It is all the more impressive since I understand that they had a couple of pitchers "retire" before the tournament started including one of their top starters.

Good luck in Farmington.
Can anyone that went to the DBAT/Mustangs games yesterday comment about incidents that occureed at the second game.....specifically the almost fight by Monk after he got hit by a pitch, and the incident of the Mustangs third base coach telling DBAT's coach to "shut the F _ _ k up", and finally a Mustang player being ejected?

I heard everything second and third hand and the story gets better each time!

Sounds like things got testy at TCU!!!

Train, end of discussion. DBAT 16 to the MMWS and DBAT 17 to the CMWS. You will not tarnish the great games on yesterday.
The pitcher for dbat 17 threw a pitch way inside to Monk and then looked in the dbat dugout and nodded and then the next pitch hit him and all Monk did was take a couple of steps towards the pitcher then jogged to first...and from what i was told after a check swing by the mustang player the dbat coach yelled swing the f***ing bat and then the mustang player mouthed back to the dbat coach and for that he was ejected and from what i heard the mustang coach said nothing to that coach in anyway
Cade, congrats to your organization. My son went to Farmington with Sam and he still communicates with his host family. It will be a blast.

To everyone else. It gets heated in a game and things happen. It is over and I want no more discussion of what happend. I will delete it. Cade answered and it is over. Let us celebrate Dbat's first visit to Valhalla. Best World Series in the country coming up. Go DBAT!
Try playing for one of Sams other 17-18U teams, they are not even competitive due to lack of pitching depth. While Sam's team carries 8 kids that pitch only. The other 3 17-18U teams struggled all season, forced to use position players as pitchers just to get through tournaments. I thought highly of Sam for the last couple of years also. Until I got a dose of what he is really about. His teams success and $$$. I was warned but I didn't see it until we got it handed to us 1st hand. I am not the only one who will never give him another $. What a $1600 hustle he pulled on a bunch of families.
Congratulations to the D-Bat organization on your upcoming trips to the 16U Mickey Mantle World Series and the 18U Connie Mack World Series. Our organization, Trombly Baseball, is also headed to both. Our 16U Trombly Cubs will be at the Mickey Mantle World Series and our 18U Trombly Braves will be at the Connie Mack World Series.

I will be in Farmington coaching our Braves and look forward to meeting some of the D-Bat players, coaches, and parents there. We were there last summer and the experience is unreal!

Again, Congrats and good luck!
