Now, let's not put the cart before the horse....FW Cats and Cherry Creek have outstanding teams and have just as good a chance to advance as anybody. The Cats have allowed just 4 total runs in three games against Bill Hood, Dallas Tigers and Waco Storm. CC can never be counted out with Coach Marc Johnson at the helm.

The low scores of the tournament are indicative of just how good the pitching is on these teams. Scouts and colleges galore at the games - ran out of rosters yesterday and started the day with 35 or better. Was again impressed with Brian Shore (Crawdad's son) last night as he and Donnie Williams put on a display in our 2-1 win over Tigers. Chase Anderson was nails for us against the Lubbock Hubbers as he lost his no-hit bid with two out in the 6th. Complete game, two-hit shutout in a 6-0 win.

It's crazy to try to predict what will happen beyond this morning's round 4 games. That's the great thing about the CM Regional...nobody wants to go home and the players leave it all on the field. Going to be some serious battles today IMO.

Okay, I'll get crazy and go out on a limb in predicting that DBAT will be the only unbeaten going into round 5. Smile

I would have expected more from the host but I guess Sam is capable of anything.

Sam=Bad
Mustangs=Evil Empire
ABC= Good (Anybody but Carpenter)

Sam fixed the game conspiring with umpires to gain an advantage by meeting before the game and arranging for 'favors'?

Umpires willingly impugning their integrity for favor with Sam and a few extra perks b/c they are in the host's pocket?

I don't know when the last time the Mustangs made it to CMWS, but he has 'hosted' for several years without winning it. So, to say Sam is capable of anything is logically true, but willing to do anything is an entirely different matter.
Top of the 7th 5-3, Mustangs. Man on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Cats bunt hard down first base line. First baseman charges and fields the ball. The hitter stops short of the tag by backing up, allowing the runners to advance to 2nd and 3rd. The 1st baseman never puts the tag down. At least 18 inches of air space. I could not have been closer to the call. After one swipe and no audible call from anyone, the 1st baseman turns and steps towards the mound. Keep in mind this is taking place equally between home and 1st. He is now standing one step inside the base path.

The hitter takes off for first. Realizing he did not make the tag, he throws it to 1st bas, hitting the hitter in the back who was clearly in his running lane. It bounces off his shoulder and goes into right field.

Runner on 3rd scores and the runner on 2nd is now on 3rd. We now have a man on 1st and 3rd with no outs. Sam “the weasel” Carpenter calls time and musters up some home cooking. When the dust settles, the runners are returned to their bags and the hitter is out.

Someone please explain the rule on this. Oh, no one called time.

Hey Andy, we got to see Sam make that long walk to the parking lot this year didn't we? Seeing Sam thrown out of a game was worth the price of admission. Big Grin
Fan,

The way they ruled had to be the runner not keeping in the lane. But it should have been called right away.

I know it's frustrating, but I'd like to think Sam is no weasel. He just argued the call to be in his team's favor, just like Bruce would have or any other coach in that position looking for a way to reverse what just happened to their team.
If Sam was half the man he thinks he is, as a host of the tournament, he would have gotten the out on the hitter (still a bad call on the ump), and clarified that the ball was not dead and the runners advance. When he saw the runners being returned to their bags, he turned tail like someone who was about to get his tail kicked.
