ALL DISTRICT PLAYERS/MVP

Train -- the lists are usually published once all teams from a district are eliminated from the playoffs -- and then at the discretion of the local newspapers. The complete lists are normally included when the Dallas Morning News prints the All-Area team in a special insert after the end of the season.

The D8-5A selections include:

Don't tell me you of all people are concerned about all-district selections or seeing kids names in the DMN or local paper. Doesn't really mean much does it?

Irony - Incongruity between what might be expected and what actually occurs.

The Coaches in Dist 8-5A voted for the following FM players:

First Team:

Millard - Pitcher
Mummey - Outfield
Shepherd - Infield
Pharr - Catcher
Popescu - Infield

Second Team:

Neal - Pitcher
Murphy - Infield

Did not get the information concerning any of the Honorable Mentions.

Congrats to all the kids.

But now I have to look up "incongruity".

Yarbrough had a good year for Allen. Pretty impressive when a freshmen comes in and contributes like he did. He's a good one.

What is even more amazing...from what I understand, he is actually a young freshman...if he wasn't "playing up" in 15U summer ball he would be league age 14. (last year he "played up" 2 years in summer ball - played 15U when he was 13U)

Alex is a hard worker...I don't know him personally but he works out at the same indoor facility we do (we? - my son would chuckle at that). Alex is in the batting cages working on his hitting all the time!

H&U...just want to make sure your son stays in the headlines . He will be playing with some pretty good players this summer.

I havn't heard much about the 10-5A all district picks...and since Newman Smith is still in the playoffs, I will keep what little I know to myself...but I will share that we were told at the Berkner Baseball Banquet that Berknerson (Greg Ylda) made 1st team at second base.

He had a great year -- congratulations, BD! How are the plans for next year coming along?

Thanks, the mighty Pirates are off to a 3-0 start. We won today 17-0 behind home runs from Tony Schifano (Arl. Martin '04, Brookhaven JC) and Bobby "Bubba" Jones (Flower Mound '04,Galveston JC). Brandon Foster (Henderson HS, Weatherford JC) got the win. Cassidy Carter (Lake Highlands, Texas State) and Chris Nezworski (FW Nolan, McLennan JC) had 3 and 4 hits respectively.

Mighty Pirates play tomorrow at Reverchon Park at 3pm.

Does anyone know for sure about the All-District selections for district 5-5A?

Is there a UIL site that would list all All-District teams?? Or is it just a matter of going to each districts website to see?

Both newspapers usually list all the All-district teams after the season is over. So, look for it in a couple of weeks. Or, some other coaches can get on here and post them.

According to Southlake's baseball web site, the following Dragons received all district recognition:

If my father were alive he would call the UIL on you for leaving me off the all-web team. My coach should have done a better job of promoting me. Anyway, back from Mickey Land. The Doc put me on IR thru HS season.
Will be back strong as ever for opening night tomorrow.Should be a fun and interesting summer.
Keep the updates coming from summer teams,its hard to keep track playing 40 games in 30 days.

I've tried to lay low and keep my nose clean and just try to take care of business "between the lines". Considering I'm a freshman webber with only 154 posts, I am both humbled and honored to be recognized. Coach Train was hard on all of us but I think we are all better today because of it.

Also, I would like to respectfully nominate Old-bat Never as the team cheerleader - she always has a positve word when "we" achieve on the field.
