deemax - This hit me like a ton of bricks. I just saw him a few weeks ago at a Stanford game...we briefly chatted.

Your father was a WONDERFUL man who loved his children and grandchildren VERY much. Every time I talked with him over the past several years...he ALWAYS spoke of his family and the happiness you all brought to him. Every single time!

I am so very, very sorry. Please accept my condolences to you and your entire family. He and you are in my prayers.
I had to read your post several times to be sure you were posting about bbscout,I'm stunned and very sadden by this news.

Your dad was very helpful to me by answering questions about scouting and minor league baseball, I saved all his PMs. He even introduced himself to my son while he was scouting the Royals in Arizona.

Your father touched many lives though this website. My deepest, deepest sympathies to you and your family
deemax,
My deepest sympathies are extended to your entire family.
Doug was so proud of his family and loved each of you so very much. His feelings for his grandchildren were wonderful could readily be seen when he changed his Avatar to their pictures.
I met Doug through the HSBBW. He was so kind to me and provided so much encouragement and advice to help our son. I will never forget his PM to me when I questioned the likelihood of a DIII getting scouted and drafted.
Despite Julie's earlier request, I just could never delete that first set of PM's with your Dad. It brings a tear to my eye to go back and read them now.
I loved seeing and speaking with your Dad when he was scouting at Stanford.
There is an emptiness knowing bbscout won't be posting on the HSBBW. We all benefited tremendously everytime he did.
I am so very, very sorry to read this about your Dad.

I share the same sentiment as others.... I cannot believe what I'm reading. My deepest sympathy to you and the entire family.

BBScout was one of the kindest and most helpful posters on this site. He was one of the first people that I turned to on the site for some help in understanding baseball beyond a HS level. I was and will always be deeply grateful.

He will be missed by all of us here on HSBBW. May your family feel the love and support of many around you.
I second the motion Racab. ( very nice tribute!)

I too am at a loss for words.
I have watched bbscout's posts very intensely while here on the HSBBW. It was easy for one to notice his genuiness and desire to help others. I think it would be fair to say that he was a gentle admired force on this forum.
I thank him and your family for the time we had with him and I send you strength and sympathy through a most difficult time.
Our hearts go out to all of bbscouts family.
You are in our prayers.

I have picked up the phone more than one time to call Doug for his baseball advice. I always respected the man and his advice. While I never met Doug personally I feel as if I knew him very well and feel as if he were my friend. Deemax your dad has touched many and he did it with such class. My thoughts will be of him for a long time. I know the family has many great memories of a great person. I appreciate what he did.

Dale,

This is by far the most shocking post I have ever read on this site.

Words just cannot express my sadness, and it is difficult to type through the tears.

I never had the privilege of meeting your father in person, but I corresponded with him by e-mail and PM occasionally. He was always, of course, extremely knowledgeable and very helpful to so many of our members. He always conducted himself with class. But what impressed me even more was his obvious love for his children and grandchildren. I don't think there could ever have been a more devoted and proud father and grandfather.

My very deepest sympathies to you and your family on the loss of this wonderful man. We will all feel a huge loss here for a very, very long time, and I'm sure that we will find some way to pay a lasting tribute to Doug McMillan, our beloved bbscout.

Julie

You know more than any of us what a giving, loving, kind man your father was. He helped so many of us here on many levels in many, always positive ways. I knew him only through the website and our PMs, and it is testimony to his character that we all feel as if we have lost a good friend.

My heart goes out to you and your family.

We love you, Doug.
Deemax -

Can't even begin to tell you how sad I am to hear this news. Your Dad was a terrific guy and one of my all-time favorite baseball people. Had a chance to talk with him on many occasions when he was scouting at Cal games over the past several years. Always talking about his family and very proud of you all. I never heard him say a bad word about anyone, and never saw him without a smile on his face. Thoughts and prayers to you all.
deemax,

I am at a loss for words. I just received an email notifying me of this and I just can't believe it. Doug and I talked a few times on the phone and I enjoyed it every time. We not only shared a love for the game of baseball but also an appreciation for the San Francisco Giants.

My thoughts go out to you and your family. Your dad will be missed!

I am stunned and so terribly sorry to hear this. I only had the privilege of meeting him once, at a Stanford game, but he just radiated a genuine niceness and kindness, and I always learned so much from his posts here as well. I have actually thought of him often.

I am very sad and will keep you and your family in my heart. Please know that your grief is shared by us.
