2017 needs a new helmet for summer team and unfortunately has been concussed at least once so I want him to have a very good one. Looks like the Rawlings 100mph is the state-of-the-art (and priced as such) but I'm wondering if anybody has other recommendations I should consider.

Have you checked out the RIP-IT Fit? I hear good things about it, but GHHS jr doesn't own one so I can't personally vouch for it. I do know that RIP IT offers a $5K insurance policy if any player wearing that helmet sustains a head injury when hit by a pitched ball.
It's only a little cheaper than the Rawlings S100 ($70 instead of $100), but it's a solid alternative.
Edited to add link for helmet info: www.ripit.com/fit/
Looks like another good option. Thanks.

the marruci helmets are lined with the same material they are selling for pitchers inside their hats.
My daughter suffered a severe head injury while skiing, so I've become somewhat knowledgeable about traumatic brain injury, concussions, facial reconstruction surgery, and the like. As a result, I went with the Rawlings 100 mph helmet for 2019Son, despite the cost. Certainly doesn't eliminate the risk, but it was one area in which I was willing to pay up.
