Coach, on the broadcast last night (before we broke the losing streak at 8), it was mentioned that the last time the Cards lost 9 in a row was the '70's. You remember the Cards of the '70's, don't you? (shudder)

OHHHHH yes, I remember. Painful memories! If management doesn't address pitching, we're in some big trouble. BIG TROUBLE! Those Metropolitans just might get themselves into the World Series while our Cardinals book Tee Times.
The Mets find out what competition is all about.
They might be 6th or 7th best, if that, if they played in the AL!

But, who ever thought the Miami Heat had a chance against any team from the West during the NBA finals.

as usual you have those blinders on

Tigers
How 'bout those Mets now? Glad to see Pedro in blue & orange.
Just as it was better to have Pedro for those 7 years instead of Clemens, it is now better to have Beckett than Pedro.

The Mets will be in the World series which will be fine--- by the way they are still up by 11
You know you keep making comparisons like that and nobody will listen to you

You are on my 'virtual ignore button'. Most things you say here render you insignificant to me.

What makes you significant?
actually you use of the word "virtual" says it all--you are another cyberspace expert--there is a real wold

cumbayah.......
Millidge is a liability in left and at the plate right now. They have some no name scrub in right field. Pedro cant throw 90 any more and he's still a head case, which was proven this week. I like the infield though.
Can we say Tigers?
r u hijacking the Mess, I mean Mets thread?
The puddycats are looking good though. I like their pitching alot.

TR........
The mets look like they have blinder's on VS the AL!
"WEAK" should replace "National" when describing the league.
The Yankees are CLEARLY the BEST team in NY!

HOW COULD ANYONE SAY YANKEES ARE THE BEST BASEBALL TEAM IN NY?! Not only did the mets sweep the yankees last yr, they won 2/3 in shea, and now are tied 1-1 in this series.

You have to consider the source of the statement
You have to consider the source of the statement
I said it pre-season and I'll say it again....Subway Series Oct. 2006
Pay attention:
The Yankees are in the top 5 in the AL.
The Mets can't play .400 VS the AL.
The NL can't play .400 VS the AL.
The WORLD'S CHAMP'S and the Detroit Tigers are the premier teams in baseball and the NL look's more like triple A every day!

Soxnole,

You had better pay attention
Of the three AL teams you name only one is in first place right now
I don't think you undertstand --what a team did previously does not matter today--it is where you are today that counts this year--not winning or losing last year--
Also WORLDS CHAMPS is a misnomer since Canada and USA do not contstitute the world

Sox,
You have forced me into getting one of my Original Mets Yearbooks - (I think I am going with the 1965 one for now) - scanning it into my computer - and using it as my avatar.
Be right back.

Thats right, Can we say Tigers!!! does anybody think Todd Jones is a good closer? No offense to him, and i realize he gets the job done, but when it matters would you want him in the 9th of game 7 WS?
Oh yea back to the topic..Mets are doin really good, but will they hold on after the All-Star break? and the same with the Tigers?

SO what was the final score last night? Mets what and Yankees how much?
It's my contention that when it comes to the the greatest sports franchise in the history of the world, what the New York Yankees did last year - and every year before - matters a lot to every team out there. It matters in today's game, it will matter tomorrow. It mattered in December, in spring training, it mattered draft day and it will matter shortly after the all star break. It matters to the players, the manager, the coaches and the g.m.'s.
Every team plays today's game to win today. That's a given. But that's just a small snapshot of the overall picture. Heck - there's some guy with every team who is right now working his laptop to death - plugging in every possible scenario and contemplating every possible angle that will give them a shot at three teams in October - the current AL leader, the current NL leader nad the New York Yankees.

Huh?
Nice ballgame last night!
The mets were shown to be a very average MLB team in a below average league.

Talk about eye problems soxnole--- step outside your little world and see what it is all about---Mets are in first and and the White Sox are not at this point in time
By the way the AL still does play true baseball in using the DH

"Greatest Sports Franchise In The History of the World"???? Why would either the AL or the NL be impacted by Manchester United?

Hate to tell all you very nice NY Mutts fans but Atlanta is starting to pull it together. Chipper (translation=LARRY) is till hurting but will be back to his norm shortly. Bobby Cox appears to have the bullpen headed in the right direction.
Look out MUTTS your nightmare is coming Again. Go Braves!
