Our son got his first college AB this weekend and sadly, we didn't get to see it because we both had to work on Friday.  I had the computer on Live Stats while I was finishing up at work when his name came up as a pinch hitter in the eighth.    He hit a double, stole two bases, and scored.  They put him in as a sub at his position but he didn't have anything come to him. He got one more AB and he lined out to third base.  We have been here for the remainder of the series, but he hasn't been in again.  I guess this is how it goes when your son is a freshman on a college team.  Hopefully we will get to see him play the next time he gets in.

Sorry was remiss on update of ChefJR weekend. Team did great 3-0, timely pitching ( one starting and 1 relief pitcher were exceptional- others good). Lots of hits (I think 30 hits, 5HR).

Went to Nashville with entire family entourage (16 of us) to see him pitch. He was slotted as a relief pitcher and we wanted to see his first college pitch live

VERY cold. Began moving games around to get them in. Went from one Friday, 1 Saturday, 2 Sunday to 2 Friday, 2 Saturday) and double header on Friday late afternoon and evening. never got above 33 degrees. He didn't get in but was kind of shocked that boy slotted (according to my son) to start game 4 threw an inning. After he got back to hotel, He called us and said he had got the starting nod for game 4 slotted at 4pm on Saturday . Went to breakfast as family on Saturday and then I went to game 3, 45 degrees cold but not freezing. Team won with huge GS in bottom of 8th to seal it. End of game there were rumors flying around among parents that 4th game being cancelled because of expected bad weather. Sure enough team met and home team cancelled because it might snow later that evening. Son came up and told me . He was disappointed but took it in stride as I expected him too. More about how well the team played, so excited to a part of something really good, etc. He said he would get his chance, no worries. Then on to the bus to come back to Dayton OH. We ended up staying and hanging out with extended family until Sunday. Never did have any kind of bad weather. No snow in Nashville until Monday. UGH.

Won't get opportunity to go to his next two weekend where I am sure he will get a shot sometime vs. Ole Miss or U of Miami (FL). Kind of bummed about that to be honest.

Does anyone know how I can watch Ole Miss games this weekend?

Have to mention TTB's fourth appearance in relief, on a gorgeous 75 degree New Mexico afternoon. They brought him in part way thru the fifth of a seven inning game. No outs, runners on 1st and 2nd clean up hitter at the plate with 2-0 count. We were up 4-3, coach tells him to limit the damage. He sit the #4 down in three pitches, then the next two in 10 pitches. Came in again in the 6th, with 1K a ground out and a pop out In order. Needless to say Dad was pretty proud how far he has come in his first year out of HS

LOL!

Part of the back-story, evidently, is that the cost of diverting UCLA to Orlando was negligible, and UNC is taking the bus down. Still, it's certainly more costly, and it's too bad that such a potentially good series will be seen by a negligible number of either school's fans. Both programs' Directors of Baseball Operations must have been pulling their hair out a couple of days ago.

Meanwhile, very sorry to hear about your additional cancellation, Swampboy. That's a bummer.

We were tentatively planning on going to see our son play this weekend.  Plans may be put on hold.  He text last night, that depending on the weather, they may be heading to GA to play the scheduled team at an alternative sight - could be one of three venues in GA - Savannah, Georgia State, or Frances-Macon.

Looks like we won't be going - checking the weather radar, I'm pretty sure it's snowing where he is at and I can't afford to get to GA.  Crap.

Damn snow.

I'm so ready for spring.......

I wish I was going were my son is headed. They got on a plane to Miami FL to play the Hurricanes this weekend. Snow is literally in the air outside my office window as we speak and 8 inches on the ground. Expected temperatures in Miami - 80. Just can't afford the dang plane ticket!

The upside my son should be able to feel the ball when he pitches this weekend

Yeah it is agreat place to play and watch a game. Son playes there seberal games there in HS. He pitched there two summers ago with the Settlers in the great lakes league.

Hope you get games in Bishop, Doesn't look pretty here for baseball. I am looking forward to this weekend where I can see the games live. I am enjoying it immensely. More importantly, so is Jeremy.

Barb, he liked Miami, said it was nice to be where it was warmer. Boys flew back this morning (I assume because of cheaper flights). Saw pictures of them all hanging out at hotel pool last evening  . Said it was better than Ole Miss or Nashville, they could go outside without freezing
