Sometimes it takes a whole of courage to be humble and admit defeat, today! There will be other days, other games, and other endings. Your words will be remembered for many years to come. It's the Lyons Township and Hinsdale Central way of life in high school sports in our area.

The spirit of the game, the players, and the fans at todays game is what we will all celebrate. And, believe it or not, we can agree on one thing, at least we were consistant when it came to complaining about the umpire calls.

DevilMan, very good post.

But while 8-1 seems like a lopsided score, the outcome was still in doubt late into the game. HC was down 3 with the bases loaded and Mr. Noth at the plate in the bottom of the 5th (I think it was the 5th). I daresay, a few LT fans were a little worried at that point.

But young Mr. Fillipitch was too good this day and Mr. Cannon's 7th inning shot put it away.

Kudo's to both teams for battling as they did.

Hey Smokey!! Good to hear from you as always...

Nick threw 6 innings for HC. It looked to me that LT took the wind out of HC's sail early. They kept the fans out of it for the most part and they did what they had to do. Saw a lot of intesity from LT.

Was impressed with the Cannon kid, he has a nice short swing, good luck to him out East next year... HC did have a chance in the 5th to with their big hitter up and the bags full.
Good teams, good fans,

As usual, thanks for the kind words! Obviously you know he is not the tallest player on the field, but works hard to overcome that.

It's also funny that after the game, the Augustana coach came over to look at my book. He commented that, that little guy showed some goood power. I said that he was my son, and then he said that he must have gotten that from his mom!

I get no respect!!!

I don't think so!!!!! Andy started with Steve a few years ago, and gave him the great foundation for his swing, but Andy's schedule just wouldn't allow him to be consistent with his training time. He has been working with Jim Donovan the last year, and has helped him a great deal as well.

I get nothing for saying this, but there is so much knowledge at Strikes that you would be hard-pressed to find any group of people more capable of giving quality instruction, outside of MLB type instruction, and you almost get that now. IMHO

And Scott Nelson, we can't say enough about how much he has helped Andy.
