My son will be playing in his first WWBA tournament later this summer. This will be the first wood bat event since he was real young. Have those of you who have some experience in this area found it helpful to hit with wood in actual games leading up to the WWBA event? Or do you just practice with wood? Also, I am assuming that each player must provide his own wood, if so, then how many bats would you recommend taking to the event? The event is one week long.

I would DEFINITELY hit with wood as much as possible (only?) for as much as you can prior to these events, it also helps to get some games and live, on-field BP as well to help with confidence...

Most of these events (Perfect Game and Prospect Wire) allow a composite wood bat to be used. I would highly recommend them! Especially because most all of the MFG's offer a 90 day warranty on them (which is like the length of the summer showcase season). And if you buy from a booth during the event and it breaks, you just bring it back to the booth with the receipt and they'll usually just give you another bat.

We picked up a few Louisville Slugger 271 Bamboo Composite bats at the Louisville tent/booth at Perfect Game in Ft. Meyers, and they will also make deals for you as well...

Good luck!
