Surely the Rangers can save Lee, I would think.

If I were the Rangers, I would quit underestimating the Giants...

CD, he is 21 years old. Was 87 in Spring Training. Why waste Lee on that poor kid.
I agree with TX-Husker, Hunter is going to do just fine.
The Rangers played too timid the first two games. It's not them...it's not their game. All year they have dictated the game when they have been successful. When they let the other team dictate and respond to it, they don't play as well. They have nothing to be afraid of in the Giants. They need to take it to them aggressively and they will be fine.

Tomorrow night is key. They win that game, they go into games 5/6/7 with Lee, Wilson, Lewis. Rangers are in great shape. Push the action. Even if they lose and go into the last three down 3-1, they still have their best going and have always played their best with the backs to the wall.

Quoted locally, Wilson on TV said he had a blood blister that broke and he couldn't throw a 4 seam fastball. He said he came out because he was limited after the walk.
Guess we will see. I would doubt he is fine with a blood blister that popped.
Boy, if they play Vlad in RF in AT&T park, they will be biting their nails every inning. Toughest RF in baseball will be played by the weakest RF in baseball.

Should Cliff Lee pitch tomorrow?

The only reason to pitch Lee tomorrow (3 days rest) would be to plausibly use him in game 7 on Wednesday (2 days rest).

Lee basically uses one pitch-- the fastball--which is usually very accurately placed. Pitching him on short rest increases the likelihood that he won't have good location, and we saw in game 1 what happens when he doesn't have good command.

I think pitchers who use multiple pitches are more suited to short rest. It's easier to keep batters off balance even if the pitcher's command or velocity is off.

The decision to pitch Lee tomorrow will have nothing to do with who his opponent will be, IMO. It doesn't matter who is throwing against him, what matters is how he will perform and how the other team will perform against him. John Wooden always said it doesn't matter what the other team's strengths and weaknesses are, because if you prepare yourself according to your strengths and adjust your weaknesses, you can't go wrong. If Cliff Lee is ready to pitch in Game 4, he will pitch. If not, Ron Washington will wait until he is ready to perform to the best of his ability to help his team win.

I don't believe the Rangers are "over" or "under" estimating the Giants at all. They are in the World Series for a reason and should be taken as an opponent as such. Just because Bumgarner has the ball doesn't mean the offense should be able to take a night off and coast to a home victory on the heels of a Cliff Lee victory. They need to play the game just like every other game they've played in their past.
