Would Bob Gibson, in his prime, be starting this game tonight - assuming he had already pitched in game 1?

He would if he were pitching for the Rangers, then he would be ready for Game 7 if needed. He started and won Game 7 of the 1964 World Series against the Yankees on 2 days rest.

Back in Gibson's day there would be no question---there where no pitch counts, no 4 or 5 day rest and no asking---they just said "give me the ball !"

At that time the pitchers were in a 4 man rotation all the timeduring the regular season, so starting on two days rest was done in emergencies. Koufax started World Series games on two days rest and won in the 1965 Series.

In 1968 Lolich was the Tiger's second starter to McLain and he still started and won three games.

Hrs should again be big factor tonight. My feeling is that if Rangers win tonight, they are then the slight favorites with Sanchez being somewhat shaky as a starter.

Madison was a tremendous hitter in hs. He hits from the right side. At a showcase tourney at NC State I saw him hit one over the scoreboard in lcf. He is regarded as one of the best pro prospects to come out of the state of NC since you know who. The guy he is facing right now.

Going to be a long (or short) night for both pitchers.
