Niner's Parent:
I didn't say you were jealous. Just maybe not in tune with ethics and the law. Regardless of where anyone's gpa or ACT score or whatever is posted with that individual's knowledge and consent, no school official is entitled to discuss any student's situation unless that student or parent/guardian gives permission. And I personally have a real problem with that.Don't give me the small town excuse; I live in one. That does not excuse lousy behavior on anyone's part.

There's a lot of stuff posted on a lot of websites that are innaccurate, or portray an inaccurate picture. Even this one. (Except for anything Fungo or TR posts. Wink.)Funny you didn't mention this kid's PG rating, yet you mention his gpa and ACT. This kid may have been rated a ten for all we know. Half the picture is as worthless as an innaccurate picture.

Look - you are probably a nice guy. Accept the fact that there will ALWAYS be someone taking your position/slot/scholarship/whatever. Them's the facts of life. And it's a fact of life that there are good people out there willing to take a chance on an otherwise dicey situation.

In the long run the kid does have to qualify for both NCAA standards and the school's admission standards and remain eligible. Maybe JUCO would be the best route. Maybe the kid will surprise everyone and graduate in four years *** laude. It's not like it hasn't been done before.

Peace. I sincerely hope your son lands a great scholarship somewhere if that's his goal.
i may be in the minority here but here goes.looking at the core courses needed to play d1 ANYTHING ,it seems that for an average student it would be difficult.he must have taken all the core classes or he would be a non qualifier, unless he made the core credits up with his sat ,so if he is a qualifying student with a d average he is still a qualifier.right?that alone is an achievement in my mind.but again my kids are average students.
on another note way back in this post someone mentioned all you need to do is show up to get a d,speaking as someone who knows first hand, with drugs as rampant today as they are ,and kids going down the wrong road as easily as they can .in my opinion WHATEVER it takes to keep them in school.in some cases sports are all they have, take that away and now what? i felt the way most all of you do.....until it happened to my son.now i'm not advocating just handing out passing grades to all these under achievers but things are different for everyone.adults as well as kids.
(its not whats real, its whats percieved)
