What do i put for GPA when filling out a form for fall ball? I am a junior. Do i put my accumulative GPA or do i put my current GPA for my junior year? How big of a deal is it which one. I had already filled one sheet out and put my current junior year GPA and now think i should have put my accumulative. Will this hurt my chances of being recruited?

Leftypitcher,

If you have a good cumulative GPA as well as a good current year GPA - it wont hurt to put both down as it will show solid past and current performance and consistency.

In the future - IMO - you should list your cumulative GPA. If it isnt great - hopefully your current year GPA will show improvement (and effort).

Either way - unless you are applying to schools that are elite academic institutions - I dont think it matters all that much because if a school is truly interested in your ability - they will ask for the info you have omitted anyway and will ultimately ask for the transcripts.

Study hard - and get good grades. Thats the main thing - then you wont have to worry about any of it.

leftypitcher17 - as you complete other questionnaires put the cumulative "correct" GPA. Grades go up and down, hopefully up, but you don't want to get heavy into the recruiting process and have to present your transcripts that don't reflect what you have indicated!

There are some types of schools that will target students that only have a certain level of GPA needed to get in.
I think most coaches just want to have assurance that they can get you in, and that you can stay in once you're there. I have heard of players getting passed over because although they could get past admissions, the coaches feared that they would not be able to stay eligible given the strain that their baseball obligations would place upon them.

When you look at the daily schedules of college baseball players, it's a wonder they can get their research papers done and pass their exams.
