Dtiger,

Smart Son's team has faced him the past two years. It is not fun!!!! Actually, we rejoiced greatly when the IHS coaches deemed us an opponent they didn't worry about enough to pitch him against us either time this past season (we got them once, though!). BB is a great kid with a phenominal future. I know Smart Son enjoyes the chance to play against the best, so we hope to see him twice this year. If we do, it means we are in the thick of things in 6-5A, and not just a cross town rival (to the north).
I've faced BB... and I must say the drop down slider he threw me had to be the scariest pitch I've ever seen. Having said that, I will enjoy the competition. Chances are high that I will be pitching against him one or both times we play them. Just imagine, 5ft. 8in against 6ft. 7in. A kid who throws 94 against a kid who throws... 78-80. YES, we're going to be in for a good one. Luckily my senior year, he'll be gone. Big Grin.

If I could add this too, he was one of the nicest kids I've ever played with and accepted me full heartedly when I guested with them back when he was 16 for AABC.

jb...

T-Bird Son knows that feeling. He faced Kershaw in the 15 strike out performance in last year's playoffs. He relished the challenge and knows he saw greatness.
Maybe that was Gustafson's team Nico was on.
Dtiger, I must say, for a high schooler, you certainly show alot of wisdom and maturity in your posts. When I first started reading your posts, I thought you were a dad of a player. Even when you disagree, you always reply with respect and consideration toward that individual. Your parents should be proud.
The biggest problem I see with anyone in Region 2 5A is the fact that you are going to have to beat either Thw Woodlands, Klein Collins, or Tomball. Those three, especially the first two are loaded. KC might be the best of the three.

Region 3 will feature Katy, Langham Creek, Westside, Cy Fair and Memorial if they find some pitching.
Last year I projected Marcus to finish strong and they started out a bit sluggish only to run the next 9 games to endup 10-4 only to get knocked out during a playoff game (by FMHS) for the playoffs and I see them getting their slot this year with their new district and the addition of 1 more team to the mix/

This year I predict:

Marcus
Flower Mound
Newman Smith
Coppell

to represent our district in post season play.... (the above is in no particular order).

Newman Smith, from what I have been told, might have a couple new Sr.'s added to their roster (a S/S and an OF) so won't know their depth till preseason......look for Sprinkle to add something to the team this year on the mound along with a catcher that recorded a 1.97 pop time this past summer at PG.......

FMHS returns 7 of 9 starters from last year with Popescu (DBAT 17 team), Neal (Carpenter Mustangs),UT verbal T. Sheppard and don't forget behind the plate Pharr...and rumor has it they have a Sr. ex catcher now OF that might be doing some pitching for them this year and he has been hitting low 90's on the radar......

Marcus will have a scrapppy team just like last year but with no big/known names, you can gtd. they will play solid defense and their Coach has a successful formula for putting it all together for total team play. They should get their playoff slot this year...and they have a big dedicated senior class that is more than HUNGRY to prove something......

Lewisville will be strong again this year and could be in playoff position for the 2nd year in a row with Choate leading the way.......

Coppell, we all know what they have and they will be strong, once again........

Hebron: first year in 5A with much success in 4A could come out with a bang or need a year to transition into the fold....then watch out, they have had success and expect success.

That is what I know out of our district

Lewisville will be lucky to win half of their district games based on reports I've had. We'll reserve judgement until I can get out to see them play this fall.

5-5A will be again one of the toughest districts in the region.

I look for Southlake, Colleyville, Keller and possibly Haltom to be right in the mix.

Keller returns only 3 starters, their ace and two other pitchers that were on Varsity last year. They have a talented group of Seniors moving up from JV and a large number of talented Sophomores and Juniors that will compete for 4 or 5 starting spots.

Look for Kaleb Merck (08) and Kendall Boone (07) to be the backbone of the offense this year, with Merck or Little Stafford to be the number 2 behind Big Stafford.

Losing 2 Division 1 signees and a kid now playing in the minors will be tough. In order to win, they will need to play dirtbag baseball.

The big question for Keller will be how they will replace Monk Kreder behind the plate, an impossible task if you ask me.

Monk is a one of those "special" players and always a joy to watch, I have had the pleasure of receiving a couple of the greatist PM's from him and I wish him along with Medlin all the best at TCU.....

Keller has stud's in the Stafford brothers... and of course they have one heck of a speedster in the outfield. dangerous on the basepath and has a big stick.

Do you think North will have the pitching this season? I know they have Matt, Trent, and Tyler...anyone else?

BTW 43Momma, Jim Gatewood is the new head coach at North.

CoachA,

I know that Woody can throw from the left side and is pretty good. Not sure who the other kids are though. Being gone a year and not being around the kids this summer has me not too sure who's still here and who the underclassmen are. I do know that Zach Diaz who will be a sophomore is real good, too.

On paper, we should be as strong as anyone out there in the 4A ranks in my opinion. But that's not worth much really.
