Its approaching that time of year again where our boys will be returning to the field of play. Mine is leaving in a few days to head back to his JC for the season to come. Practice starts on Monday and for him its his first real opportunity as a healthy player to play since his junior year of high school. He had to red-shirt his freshman year rehabbing a knee injury that happened 1/3 of the way into his senior year of HS. Can't say enough how disappointed he was when he went down but I am truly overjoyed and awed by his dedication to to both his academics and athletics in getting back to playing condition. His coach told him that based on performance this fall that he has the lead at SS and looking at him for 1 or 2 in the lineup. He knows the meaning of perserverance and overcoming disappointment and that playing time is earned, not given. Hard work and determination are what help us all succeed in life, I am so grateful that he has internalized these qualities and know they will help him succeed in whatever profession he lands in. For now, baseball is his passion and I pray daily that he will stay healthy and have his shot at seeing what he can do at the next level.

Wondering what are other stories are out there of sons returning to the diamond. I know the anticipation is killing me, along with some sadness that he will be leaving soon...... Here's to a great season for all!

J23,

That is awesome for your son! glad he did the work needed to be in that position! I hope he has a great season and that you get to watch him play again!

My son had TJ surgery 12/23/10 and missed all last season rehabbing. He will be a Junior LHP this year for his HS. Hopefully he will take his division by surprise and they won't know who this big lefty is...lol. He is excited to finally get to take the ball again! He will play in the 18U and 17U WWBA down in East Cobb this summer as well, so he is really excited to let schools finally know who he is!
