As everyone is welcoming home all their college kids, keep a wishful thought to a large number of Air Force Academy kids all stuck in Colorado Springs and Denver, trying to get home for Christmas. Many of them Doolies (frosh, Dooleus: Greek for Slave, the lowest life form on the planet, single celled amoeba) who have not been allowed off campus since checking in for Basic Training (called Beast) last June.
They are saying that many will not be able to catch planes until Sunday or Monday. Cadets or not, they are great kids, just wanting to get home to taste Mom's cooking and get some laundry done, that doesn't smell like military soap.
cadKID#2 flew to Denver from Baltimore one day before this blizzard and road tripped it home by car to northern California with cadKID#1. Clear roads across Wyoming/Utah/Nevada. Remember when you could drive that many miles and not feel like absolute @&%# for a week?
Here's hoping everyone gets to hug their favorite kids this Holiday Season, and get ready for....
