Lima Locos are also in the GLCL.  They are about 20 minutes from me.  I've been to 5 or 6 games there in the past.  Has always been good baseball. Mix of D1, D2 and a few D3 kids.  Lima actually had several SEC kids...and Buster Posey's younger brother...so they drew pretty good crowds.  Friends son played in the league last year and really enjoyed it.  If your son is considering it...make sure he knows some of the teams are in fairly small towns while others are in bigger cities (Columbus, Lexington).  Not sure where you're from, but if you're from a large city, moving to Lima Ohio or one of the other smaller towns may make for a quiet summer, though they don't have much time outside of baseball so maybe it's not that big of a deal.

Last year my son started the first game of the championship up at Simmons field. He got the win, but the only run for the Settlers was scored on an error. It is a nice field. It is one of the few fields that serves beer. Sometimes the home fans can get quite rowdy.

We were in the car ready to head over to that game when a friend called and asked us to stop by....didn't end up going to the game.  Heck of a game, wish I'd have gone....if I remember right, an error on a steal of second allowed the only run to score???

BishopLeftiesDad has been a fine contributor here for many years and his opinion on this league is a good one and similar to mine, frankly.

Look, there are only so many summer positions open in the entire nation and this is one of the best opportunities in the nation imho.  I wouldn't base my decision on whether or not a small town is involved.  There are great things that can be learned in a small town and always trust your son's ability to adapt to new situations.  Beyond that, if you have this opportunity, I would take it now before somebody else does.

Thanks you very much ClevelandDad. I appreciate the comment. I totaly agree, baseball wise this is a great experience. If a young man would turn this down, I am not sure they will get a better offer.

Don't get me wrong....I was in no way saying not to take the opportunity.  As I said, I live 20 minutes from Lima.  Lima is a "major city" compared to the little town I live in....lol.  I have grown up here...and am comfortable with small town living.  If a kid from NYC, LA or Miami showed up here for 2 months, I can't say whether or not he would enjoy it...just thought I would put it out there....but as I said, they spend so much time with baseball that I'm not sure the fact they were in a small town would matter much.
