May be a topic for another thread, but can somebody please explain that interference call? Never seen that called before and simply cannot understand the reasoning behind it. From a logic standpoint, upon ball four, the hitter is now a base runner so how can he be called for batter's interference? Just don't get it.

Elliot Soto of the Peoria Chiefs is named to Midwest League AllStar team, Elliot is from Dundee Crown High School.

Conner Powers from Benet Academy and Miss State is leading the Fort wayne Tincaps in batting avg at .329 and slugging .525. Conner has 6 home runs along with 27 doubles.

Elliot Soto moved from low a Peoria Chiefs to High a Daytona cubs about a month or so. Congrats!

Kyle Kaminska (Naperville Central) moved up to double A Jacksonville with the Marlins organization.

Austin Wright (Conant) was moved from short season to low a with the phillies. He pitched 5 inings last night and allowed 2 hits and struck out 10, nice work.

Joe Benson 2006 JCA grad called up to the Twins today. Had a very good year in the AA Eastern League. Here is a link to a catch he had on ESPN:

If I remember correctly Joe was a very good catcher in HS...and a very good hitter too! Joe played for the Upper Deck Cougars and our son considers Joe to be the best player he played against.

Eliot Soto (Dundee Crown) playing High A for the Daytona Cubs had a nice opening series in the playoffs. He played flawless at short and also lead the team in hitting with a .600 avg over the 3 games series.

They open up in the next round vs Mets affiliate on Friday

Baseball America, in their list of the top 100 college players for the 2012 MLB draft has Scott Firth (Stevenson '09) listed as #73.
Firth did quite well in the Cape Cod league this year, making the All Star team, although he did take the loss.

Another local player Jerad Grundy (Johnsurg '09)is also listed in the top 100 college players for 2012 Draft at #57. That's two Kentucky pitchers listed in the top 100. Walt Wijas (Conant '09) will also play a key role as part of Kentucky's pitching staff.

A nice start for Jerad Grundy with his first win 5.2 innings, 3 hits 0 runs. He is with Kentucky and from Johnsburg.

To all the College players and professional players from Illinois good luck as the season is here or spring training is up and running.

Jacksonville suns had a couple locals today as Kyle Kaminska (Naperville) picked up the win and is now 4-1. Jake Smolinski was 4-6 with 3 doubles in the game, he is from Rockford Boylan. This is Miami's double a team.
