I remember we had a great discussion about dogs on here a while back. Today we are headed to the shelter to look at a Corgi. Of course we told our son.... MAYBE we will bring him home but you know if that dog even makes eye contact with us we will be playing in the back yard an hour later.

our second Golden Retriever, DUKE, the big one....is a shelter rescue.....a two time internee into the pound, and is my favorite...

yes, he barks, and digs....and chews....weighs close to 125 lbs.....but he is a joy....

wife was contacted by the golden retriever rescue folks and went to "see" him.......2 hours later he was at my house.....
Trojan,
Enjoy your new friend, had a corgi when I was younger great dogs and very loyal. Nothing like having someone meet you at the door when you get home wagging his tail, always happy to see you.

I've had nothing but shelter dogs, matter of fact I got my last one a year ago. We call him our designer dog, a Begador, Half beagle, half Labador. goes to all my sons games with me. Nothing better than an 70 lb. lap dog.
Oh, do come back and let us know how the trip went!

As I shared in that thread to which you're referring, we lost our lab that was almost 13 during that time. However, our Pepper is a pound puppy that 15 1/2 years old. She was a year old when we got her from the pound after I saw her on a weekly spot on the news. She's my girl!! Shelter dogs are great!
We got all the paperwork done; the dog, George, is in foster care right now so on Friday we are hooking up with his foster-master and we get the leash... the last time we got a dog the first night we had her was the absolute worst lightning storm we had in years... the poor dog was scared out of her wits with new surroundings and the tremendous thunder.
