Another weekend....another batch of kids Tweeting out their new offers....and another few that don't have the name of the school correct.  Is it really that difficult or do kids that are getting offers and a lot of $$$$ to play at a school just not care?   I would think if I posted a picture of myself with one of the most well-known coaches in the country and announced an offer that I'd know the name of the school....but that's just me lol

What can I say....slow day at work.....rant over

The whole thing is silly IMO, but it is what it is.  Baseball is far behind the other sports on this stuff.

OTOH, in both our sons' cases, once they committed their future college coaches wanted the word to get out - they thought it helps with other recruits.  No, they didn't tweet it.  In our younger son's case, he committed at beginning of Junior year, we only told his HS and travel coaches, and that was it.  I wanted him to focus on his HS season and not have the distraction of people asking him about it.  Worked out well - mythical HS national champions.

I don't mind tweeting out committments, and it's not nearly as much of an issue in baseball as it is in football.  A school here had a huge recruiting deal this past weekend....and at least a dozen kids got offers.   Tweeting out "blessed to receive my 11th offer from Big State U" just seems so pointless to me.   If it's Big State University and you call it The University of Big State, to me, you just make yourself look completely foolish lol, but maybe that's just me.

I know announcing offers is big in football, and I never really understood why this was considered ok... well, a friend of my son is going through the football recruiting process and got an offer.  He was told that if he decided to commit he had to check back with the coach first to make sure they would accept his commitment, i.e., they would only accept his commitment if their #1 choice was no longer available.  So I guess an offer in football is a different thing than an offer in baseball.
